Raven Power, LLC has a job opening for a Principal Engineer. The position will be located at the H.A. Wagner Power Plant in Baltimore, MD (Pasadena area). The position will report to the Engineering & Maintenance Manager. The H.A. Wagner generating station is a multi-fuel (coal, oil, & gas) fired electric generating station.
Primary Purpose & Summary:
Provides technical expertise in an Engineering discipline. Highest individual contributor level and possesses capability to supervise. He/she is viewed as a subject matter expert throughout the organization. Leads teams to execute fleet-wide initiatives in his/her area of expertise.
Performs complex work requiring an in-depth understanding of engineering principles, theories, standards, concepts and techniques. Provide technical expertise and project support for daily operations, plant improvements, process improvements, design, equipment acquisition, plant breakdown and analysis, self-assessment, technical procedure reviews and corrective actions. Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives. Reviews design and documentation to ensure compliance with design criteria and standards. Conducts feasibility studies, determines manpower and cost estimates, and develops engineering criteria. Acts as subject matter expert in his/her area of expertise. Trains personnel in the application and use of engineering concepts, materials, plant design-based equipment, or procedures. Directs personnel in established practices, technical and quality assurance procedures; monitors and develops the engineering expertise of personnel. Develops and nurtures relationships with key technical counterparts, trade allies and customers within and outside the Company and other external stakeholders.
Excellent working knowledge of plant systems, equipment, policies, practices, codes and standards. High level of understanding of engineering principles, project management and cost control techniques. Demonstrated ability to perform complex analyses and review and approve plans to improve current processes. Ability to lead/execute multi-site initiatives.
Education & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or Physical Science and 7-10 years experience.
Possession of a valid driver’s license and ability to meet Company driving standards. Preference (but not required) Professional Engineer License in Maryland.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
Working conditions will include both Power Plant field work (including Confined Space Entry) and office type setting. It will be necessary to enter power plants and possibly landfills, or other potentially hazardous industriallocations.
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail, despite interruptions, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen for long period of time. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the phone.

At the Power Plant facility and in/out door environment, must be able to work in adverse conditions that may include, but not be limited to the following:
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to climb stairs, ladders, and work on elevated platforms. Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
Must be able to lift 45 pounds overhead and 75 pounds from the floor to 36 inches.
Must be willing to travel to other facilities if needed.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color distinction with vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
Must be able to work around high voltage.
Must have manual dexterity and ability to manipulate keyboards.
Must be capable of wearing respirators and working in dusty environments.
On occasions employee may be required to work at heights to collect samples or conduct other environmental assessment, where guarding or fall protection is required.
