Nalco Champion, an Ecolab Company, has an immediate need for a Principal Engineer in our Energy Services group located in Sugar Land, Texas.   • Responsible for providingengineering and technical support to operations to help troubleshoot and optimize plant manufacturing performance. Participates in product cost improvement; monitors quality and yields; participates in production planning activities, andresponsible for maintaining safe working conditions. Mainresponsibilitiesinclude:

    • Appliesengineering skills to troubleshoot process failures, equipment failures and quality issues and propose solutions.
    • Monitors, coordinates and provides technical support for production and reliability of the operating unit.
    • Identifies process improvements to improve product quantity, quality, and operations productivity and efficiency.
    • Identifies equipment improvement projects, work flow improvements, and in conjunction with R&D, protocols for new processes or new products.
    • Develops plant standard operation or work procedures.
    • Updates plant procedures as required.
    • Interfaces with SAP (or equivalent) for product formulation, batch standards, billing of materials, master recipe and manufacturing procedures.
    • Looks for productivity and process improvement opportunities that will improve OEE and equipment utilization and cost savings.
    • Assists with plant communications by preparing daily notes and reports and by monitoring maintenance work orders.
    • Manages plant projects as directed from design stage through start up.
    • Actively coaches, trains, and mentors junior engineers, co-ops and associates.
    • Works with pilot plant and research groups to introduce new products to the plant and develop process optimization.
    • Train plant operators.
    • Conducts Root Cause investigations of process and safety incidents.
    • Participates in customer or vendor meetings.
    • Assists with plant wide audits and implement upgrades.
    • Works with the planning group to ensure plant meets production targets.

  • Job Characteristics: Appliesengineering skill to solve complex problems utilizing knowledge of Ecolab’s customers and markets. Schedules and coordinates major segments of complex projects to meet cost and time objectives. Reviews design and documentation to ensure compliance with design criteria and standards. Conducts feasibility studies, determines manpower and cost estimates, and develops engineering criteria. Activities lead to innovative applications and extensions of existing or new products, processes, systems or methods having major importance to the business.
  • Education/Work Experience: Advanced degree in an engineering discipline and five or more years of directly related engineeringexperience. Takes initiative to stay current with technology in degreed discipline.
