Principal Engineer

Responsible for successful delivery and release of engineering development projects, including technical integrity of the product system, adherence to the internal design standards and customer requirements, timely completion of deliverables, and fulfillment of the project milestones and engineering project budget (concept through launch). Supports the development of the technology and system strategy in terms of its long-term value to the company portfolio of products. Will lead engineering project team members from concept design through final system launch and will serve as the primary interface with regional application engineering.

•Has overall responsibility for the product system from concept design through full manufacturing launch in accordance with PE-PDP and program launch gate deliverables

•Must lead cross-functional and cross-region resources in the execution of the strategy for development of new products based on requirements and leads integration of those new products into the organization's portfolio of products to drive long-term profitability and sustainability

•Continually identify and capitalize on efficiencies throughout the design process across multiple areas of engineering

•Utilize cost engineering to fully understand cost implications of part design and overall pricing to deliver product systems within agreed costed bill of materials (BOM)

•Will serve as the engineering leader of the product launch team (PLT), working through regional application engineering, manufacturing and purchasing to release designs on time

•Leads peer reviews and monthly engineering project status reviews throughout process, holding component design and engineering service teams accountable to design standards and project expectations

•Create engineering project plans, negotiated with internal subsystems (component design and engineering service functions), to meet customer/program milestones and deliverables

•Ensure all new customer projects are developed in accordance with the approved product strategy and technology roadmap

•Actively share learning and contribute to continuous improvement initiative

Position Requirements:

•BS plus minimum 10 years professional experience; Advanced Degree preferred

•Must possess a bachelor's degree in relevant engineering and at least 10 years of product development and program launch experience

•5 years driveline or transmission experience

•Managing a full cycle product launch from concept to start of production within engineering product development processes.
