Kforce's client, a growing Technology Company in the Tempe, Arizona (AZ) area is looking for a Principal Embedded Hardware Design Engineer. Essential Functions:

  • Develop, design and determine hardware, software and system requirements for mixed-signal and digital products by examining design criteria, system feasibility and capabilities
  • Select key components, interfaces, and protocols; Perform board design using schematic capture tools, such as Mentor Graphics PADS or other tools
  • Determine optimal system trade-offs to balance efficiency, cost and flexibility
  • Develop, maintain, and improve algorithms and firmware for embedded systems
  • Develop and execute test plans for product validation and characterization
  • Work with Marketing, Applications Engineers and Analog Design Engineers to design mixed-signal product
  • Work with Test Engineering on Design for Testability
  • Work with outside consultants, suppliers and contract manufacturers to identify components and tools
  • Occasional travel is required
  • Performs other related duties as requested or required

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree
  • 5-8 years of Electrical Design and Embedded System Design experience
  • Minimum three 3-5 years of microcontroller design experience
  • Experience with various high-speed interfaces such as USB, SATA, HDMI, Ethernet, and PCIe are plusses
  • Experience with PCB design
  • Strong digitalcircuit design and MCU design is required
  • Analog design is a plus but not required
  • Basic knowledge of version control systems, such as Git, SVN, or Mercurial would be ideal
  • Familiarity with low-speed interfaces including UART, SPI, and I2C is preferred
  • Track record of participating in the successful deployment of products over the full product development life cycle
  • Familiarity with various microprocessor and/or memory interface is preferred
