Kforce has a client that is seeking a Principal Embedded Hardware Design Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona (AZ). Summary: This business unit develops and manufactures secure, rugged, dense electronics products for the defense and national. A high degree of skill with embedded systems with emphasis on memory architectures and interface requirements is needed. Essential Job Functions:

  • Creatively design, develop, and test/verify complex circuits, modules, or systems to meet customer and market requirements
  • Apply engineering skills including analysis, investigation, and simulation
  • Create well-documented, structured hardware that delivers required functionality
  • Compile and evaluate design and test data and prepare technical specifications as needed
  • Record and report progress with periodic status reports
  • Measure performance of Embedded subsystems or systems
  • Contribute to technical aspects of a project
  • Work is independent and collaborative in nature
  • Update knowledge and skills to keep up with rapid advancements in embedded design
  • Provide technical support to Designers, Marketing, and Sales Departments, Suppliers, Engineers, and other Team Members throughout the product development and implementation process as needed

Requirements

  • BS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; Masters' degreepreferred with emphasis on Digital Design
  • 10 years of related work experience
  • Experience with embedded hardware design (Microprocessors and/or Microcontrollers is required
  • Exceptional ability to exercise judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions
  • Ability to make technical decisions in the context of business needs and expectations
  • Ability to mentor lower level engineers
  • Ability to work as part of a team or as a single contributor and deliver timely, high quality results
  • Applicants must be fully authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government securityinvestigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Physics, or Electrical Engineering is a plus
  • Experience with modeling, simulation and code generation is a plus
  • Experience with Memory architectures and interfaces is a plus such as DDR, DRAM, Flash, etc.
  • Experience in Analog Design is a plus
  • Direct experience with Memory design and Applications is a plus
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology is preferred
  • Previous demonstrations of Thought Leadership in the embedded controller and/or memory product areas
