Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Principal Developer Advocate to join the Route 53 Application Recovery Controller team and guide customers on building extremely resilient application whose operational performance is near perfect. Route 53 Application Recovery Controller provides a set of capabilities that make it easy for developers to continuously monitor applications' ability to recover from failures, and control their recovery across AWS Regions, and AWS Availability Zones. Amazon Route 53 is a highly available and scalable cloud Domain Name Service that routes end-user and application requests to internet applications. Route 53 Recovery Controls triggers traffic failovers between redundant application copies, or replicas, running in separate AWS Regions, Availability Zones, or on premises. Route 53 Readiness Checks monitor AWS resource configurations and routing policies that support these applications, and provide alerts about any changes that would affect their ability to recover using a replica. These capabilities make application recoveries easier to execute and more reliable by eliminating the manual steps required using traditional tools and processes. These capabilities also help customers recover from application failures almost immediately, which is a requirement for applications such as real-time payment processing or trading engines with extremely high availability needs and that can affect entire economies if disrupted.
Developer Advocates on the Route 53 Application Recovery Controller team work with customers to guide them through designing and implementing extremely resilient application architectures. They do this by guiding customers on how to use the Application Recovery Controller and how to apply innovative approaches that help achieve demanding Recovery Point Objective (RPO) - how much data can be lost during an application failover, and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) - how quickly can an application failover. These Developers Advocates are familiar with how to partition applications into multiple redundant replicas that run active-active or active-standby across Availability Zones, Regions or application-specific partitioning schemes. They know how to implement safe approaches to failing over between partitions in the case of failures, and communicate technical guidance to customers based on this expertise. These Developer Advocates evangelize and train AWS Solutions Architects on how to approach and reason about application resiliency, thus scaling their influence on customers' application architectures globally. Finally, these Developer Advocates also work with the product team during all phases of product development. They leverage their hands-on technical experience and data gathered through relationships with customers to influence the product roadmap.
As a Principal Developer Advocate in the Amazon Route 53 Application Recovery team, you will work to earn trust with our customers through your technical leadership and expertise. This is a high-impact role that's well-suited to someone with domain-specific technical experience that enjoys sharing what they have learned in order to help customers solve their technical issues and overcome any challenges they face. You will produce technical content to help our customers learn about new features, and guide their plans for adoption and growth. You'll offer opinionated and timely guidance on how to make the most of the features and functions of Amazon Route 53 Application Recovery Controller, and other AWS capabilities to achieve target RPOs and RTOs. This content includes blog posts, technical presentations, workshops, and video content.
In this role, you will spend time to learn and experiment on your customers' behalf. This experience will inform your influence on the product roadmap. You will work alongside product managers and engineering teams to define, design, test, and launch new features. You will identify gaps in our products and documentation, and have direct impact on addressing those gaps. You will work with marketers to identify areas to engage the community, amplify the materials and resources you create, and identify areas of improvement in our public content for building resilient applications.
