At Expedia, the world's largest travel company, we want a Design Manager who can deliver focused solutions rooted in the user experience principles of relevancy, simplicity, and delight.

You will lead a team of UX designers working with researchers, product managers, and engineers to develop and improve Expedia’s products and services for millions of our customers worldwide, every single day. You will:

  • Partner with UX leadership to align your business owners and engineering managers to evaluate success criteria and prioritize an efficient roadmap
  • Lead the creation, maintenance and optimization of experiences within the technical constraints of both web and native app experiences and the principles and methodologies of the UX Design organization
  • Handle the schedules and operational delivery of design teams across multiple geographies, ensuring deep understanding and perspective on how design and technology impacts customer delight, efficiency and drives business goals
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data from user research, clickstream, and business analysis to evaluate demonstrable improvements to design solutions
  • Propose scientifically-sound experiments and iterative design release plans based on observations and hypothesis
  • Evaluate team design methods, explorations, technical solutions and trade-off rationale along with a recommendation to team partners, business partners and UX leadership
  • Evaluate creative products, designs and technology approaches to identify methods and viable execution plans
  • Advocate UX methodologies across your team

While we recognize that there is not one path to becoming a great UX Design Manager, we look for:

  • More than 5 years of professional design experience on both agency and client side creative teams
  • Deep understanding of brand voice, brand assets and design guidelines
  • Experience with typography, color, imagery, grid systems, and well-crafted animation/transitions
  • Experience in localization workflow and the challenges of building a global audience
  • Experience with product thinking through navigation, user flows, interaction design and information architecture
  • Experience crafting large enterprise web sites or applications, especially consumer-facing and transaction-focused interface
  • Experience with web standards and design methodologies, and while not a requirement, experience hand-coding HTML/CSS and JS
  • Experience working within agile design and development teams
  • Degree in a relevant field (HCI, computer science, graphic design, interactive design, etc.)
  • Expert communication skills that enable both ideation and collaboration
