The Principal Cybersecurity Architect, Systems will support integration with the telecommunications engineering and security community internal to T-Mobile and external with partners such as strategic telecom vendors, government, industry, and security organizations.

The successful candidate is a leader and will provide cybersecurity architecture technical knowledge, thought leadership and consulting services with the telecom lines of business and cybersecurity for the development of cybersecurity architectures and solutions that will address long-term strategic objectives and fulfill risk management strategies enterprise wide. Understanding of one or several of the following items is highly desirable in the successful candidate: Cloud security, Network Security, Firewalls, Segmentation, Protocols, System security, Internal/External web security mobile technologies and security

  • Leads the development and improvement of architectural and security designs for T-Mobile systems
  • Explores and integrates new cybersecurity technologies, processes, and capabilities
  • Serves as a subject matter expert to executive leadership on a range of cybersecurity best practices, architectures, solutions and technologies
  • Provides cybersecurity architecture services across specific lines of business to ensure the secure delivery of all technology
  • Supports the development and implementation of cybersecurity strategies across the functional areas
  • Provides strategic and tactical cybersecurity guidance for technology (informational and operational) projects, including the evaluation and recommendation of technical controls
  • Develops technical roadmaps and business cases for technology investment
  • Defines cybersecurity defense schemes
  • Designs and implements cybersecurity reference architectures and solutions that are aligned to stakeholder needs and requirements
  • Effectively leverages industry trends and new technologies in order to develop cybersecurity strategies to enhance business value and address business needs
  • Maintains awareness of emerging threats and translates that awareness into architectures and designs that protect critical systems
  • Influences technological and architectural decisions with peer groups
  • Ensures that architectural deliverables (e.g. system lifecycle support plans, concept of operations, operational procedures and maintenance training materials) are properly documented and updated as necessary
  • Provides peer review and support for organizational deliverables.
  • Works with senior management to support strategic planning and decision making
  • Coaches and mentors less experienced employees



  • 7+ years of experience in relevant info security technology or related field
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication, literacy, and comprehensive skills
  • Experience leading a small matrix team
  • Ability to communicate and convey complex technical security related concepts to business and technology teams
  • Demonstrable experience with technical leadership role on at least one cyber program
  • Five or more years’ experience in a technical/architecture leadership position
  • Ability to foster a work environment in which individuals collaborate in pursuit of a common mission and mutual goals
  • License or Certification (preferred): CISSP, Enterprise architecture, ITIL, Networking
  • Experience in telecommunications industry
  • Knowledge of wireless standards and technologies (e.g. GSM, UMTS, WLAN, LTE, and 5G)
  • strong knowledge in LTE RAN and Core architecture and protocols
  • Knowledge of NFV and SDN technologies, architectures, and products
  • Strong knowledge of IoT architecture and security
  • Experience in developing wireless architectures and solutions
  • M.S. or PhD in Electrical Engineering with specific focus in Mobile Communications
