Job Description

  • Responsible for quantitative financial analysis of the Company's capital/surplus and risk based capital positions. Maintain the capital management and capital allocation process, including scenario planning. Participate in complex projects impacting the Company's capital position and overall financial position. In partnership with Risk Management and FP&A, develop and quantify the impact of risk scenarios to support management and regulatory reporting. Aid in the management of four investment pools totaling approximately $6 billion in AUM composed of insurance company, retirement, and charitable foundation assets. Support strategic investments from deal evaluation to asset management.Performs complex modeling for the purpose of forecasting and analyzing various economic or business conditions and their impact on the Company's capital and risk based capital position.
  • Communicate, make recommendations, and present data to leadership and committees, including senior executives.
  • Prepare commentary for management regarding risk and capital analysis, trends, initiatives, and decisions, and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Development and communication of potential volatility and impact to financial metrics from risks facing the business.
  • Maintenance of the capital model and capital allocation process to support enterprise financial performance.
  • Development and maintenance of risk-adjusted performance metrics.
  • Analyze complex risk, and present analysis in a clear and concise format for communication to the appropriate parties including senior leadership.
  • Analyze different investment markets, managers, and strategies and evaluate their impact on investment performance and income
  • Produce detailed reports through analysis of investment data
  • Attend and participate in corporate and retirement plan investment committee meetings
  • Manage the investment manager search process, investment structure reviews, investment selection, asset allocation studies, and other investment-related activities.
  • Monitor manager and portfolio compliance to investment guidelines and the Blue Cross NC investment policy.
  • Prepare financial models and valuation analysis, projections, ROI analyses, feasibility studies, and other analyses to support investment decisions.
  • Analyze operational forecasts and business strategies for active and potential investments.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, support & problem solving assistance, and knowledge transfer to other Finance Division employees

Hiring Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting math, statistics or economics and 10 years of experience in financial analysis
  • Or a Master's degree and 8 years of experience in financial analyst and/or reporting role
  • Knowledge of accounting policies and procedures (GAAP)

Hiring Preferences

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Economics or Healthcare Administration with a concentration in Finance or Accounting
  • Healthcare Industry experience and/or Insurance Industry experience
  • Excellent PC skills (MS Office experience)
