As a Principal Data Architect at GRAIL, you’ll enjoy working on a broad array of clinical data and genomic related software systems. We pride ourselves on building effective, efficient, easy to use, and scalable clinical-compliant software systems to address GRAIL’s many computational and automation related challenges.
Designing and communicating the data architecture for phenotypic and genomic data across multiple teams and systems.
Analyzing and developing data-related architecture, including conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
Participating in the development of the data architecture guiding principles, policies, best practices, and standards.
Driving best practices for use of clinical and genomic data for clinical and translational research applications.
Driving policies for data search, data lake, data federation, ETL transformation, Data normalization, ontology, data backup, recovery, data security, and integrity across systems.
Define and drive the development of pipelines, storage, and visualization for the physical data generated by our rapidly scaling lab to support live Operational decisions.
Your Background Includes:
Bachelors or Masters or Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Data Science, AI, or similar technical field.
At least 20+ years of industry work experience designing, developing, and maintaining disparate data-related architectures.
Experience building large data-lakes, federating data, data security, search indexes, ontologies, web applications, micro-services, clinical decision support applications, and associated analytics.
Strong background and experience in dealing with genomic-data and linked clinical EMR dataExperience architecting clinical-decision support and translational research applications.
Experience working with a clinical SDLC/DHF to build and architect large-scale applications.
Experience with event streaming, caching, and asynchronous ingestion protocols, no-sql databases, and searchExperience building both real-time and batch data processing systems.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Prior experience being a lead architect and strong leadership skills.
Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated leadership and self-direction.
A team player and collaborative.
Demonstrated willingness to teach others and learn new techniques.
Experience with AWS data management solutions. AWS certifications, especially Pro Solutions Architect.
Experience with next-generation sequencing data analysis (DNA, RNA, or epigenetic analysis.)
