As a top-notch circuit designer at Spectra7, you will develop new circuitry for multi-Gbps operation in our next generation analog/mixed signal chips to support growth in our current and future markets. Translate chip specifications into block level circuit specifications.
Develop circuit architectures to meet high performance product requirements.
Make trade-offs in chip architecture against system level specifications.
Design circuitry for high speed wireline data links (5 - 28 Gbps, NRZ, PAM4).
Perform mixed mode simulations in VerilogAMS for full chip verification.
Guide the layout of circuit blocks for high speed performance.
Work with other team members to ensure all blocks function together.
Work with digital designers and layout team to floor plan chip.
Conduct design reviews of the full chip architecture and circuit sub-blocks and with the team.
Validate silicon against chip and system specifications.
Document circuit designs for review and write silicon characterization reports.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Education
Education: MSEE or higher
Experience: 12+ years as an analog/mixed-signal IC circuit designer.
Prior chip lead experience is a plus.
Circuit design experience in CMOS and/or SiGe BiCMOS processes.
Experience designing circuitry such as CTLE’s, PLL’s, SERDES, TIA’s, CDR’s and CML drivers.
Expertise with Cadence design software such as Spectre, SpectreRF, ADEXL, Quantus QRC.
Proficiency with software such as MATLAB or VerilogAMS.
Experience characterizing and debugging designed circuits, using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, JBERTs, VNAs and spectrum analyzers.
Understanding of fundamental system theory for high speed serial communication such as jitter, eye diagrams, insertion loss, s-parameters and crosstalk.
Experience with standard signal protocols such as USB, Ethernet and HDMI is a plus.

Understand how block level design decisions impact full chip and system performance.
Strong oral communication skills for clarity in discussing design problems with the team.
Strong written communication skills for design review documentation.
Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems encountered in chip design and debug.
Understanding of device physics and design styles for CMOS and SiGe BiCMOS processes.
Solid understanding of fundamental circuit theory.
