The Data Protection Group drives the product strategy, roadmap, and engineering delivery of the Veritas products, which includes NetBackup, APTARE, Backup Exec, Enterprise Vault (EV), EV.cloud, eDiscovery platform, and Veritas SaaS Backup.
System Hardware Engineer responsible for the Definition, Design and Component Qualification of Enterprise Storage Appliance Platforms
Lead architecture/product management discussions for defining and planning for new programs and product designs
Define and establish Hardware platform development and Qualification methodologies – utilizing suppliers, CM/System Integrators and internal teams for achieving overall high quality, high performance platforms
Provide Technical input to support Request for Input (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP) submittals and develop data structures to support reduced turn-around time.
Develop and implement Continuous Process improvements (CPI) such as New Product Design (NPD) standards and processes are being followed.
Coordinate with Software development, System Test Engineering departmental teams and Operations/Manufacturing to ensure best practices with design.
Work with Supply chain, Product Management and Technical Sales System Engineers to discern competitiveness of new technologies and Platform Requirements..
Drive Failure Analysis and RC/CA on Hardware on critical Mfg Yield loss, Customer escalation and out-of-bounds Hardware return rates.
Master of Science degree and/or MBA or equivalent; or Twelve (12) years or greater related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience in Product Development Engineering; with emphasis on Hardware Design and Validation in Enterprise Server/Storage solutions
Demonstrated track record of using structured development processes aligned with PLC (Product Life Cycles) – definition, design, qualification, Mfg BOM support, Product sustaining
Strong background and experience in systems engineering, including system architecture, system design, cost, supply chain/supplier selection, performance requirements allocations, requirements validation/ management, and system verification.
Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills and strong interactions/communication across geographies
