The Principal IC Design within the Medtronic CRHF Device Development organization will have responsibility for IC design, circuit requirements definition, simulation analysis, layout direction, circuit evaluation, system level evaluation, verification testing, and other tasks in the development of implantable medical devices
A Day in the Life
• Collaboratively define, design and integrate implantable medical electrical systems • Specify, lead and design integrated circuits. • Integrate complex implantable medical electronics, sensors and systems.• May provide work direction to other engineers and/or technicians.• Perform behavioral level modeling and simulation of ICs and multi-chip modules.• Direct and review IC layout activities.• Specify, direct and perform design characterization and verification of ICs and electronic modules to ensure device capability.• Conduct reviews to ensure device quality, capability and functional requirements. • Provide peer review to other engineers.• Provide input to schedules, timelines, and resource requirements for completion of assigned work.• Interface with systems engineering, test engineering, research engineering and firmware engineering in a team environment.
Must Have: Minimum Qualifications
• B.S in Electrical Engineering or related field with 7+ years of experience• M.S. in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience • Expert knowledge of analog, mixed signal or digital IC design methodologies. • Experience as Lead designer of a significant number, variety and complexity of ICs to demonstrate a broad technical excellence involving digital control functions plus mixed mode sensing and measurement functions. Low voltage, low power design experience.
Nice to Have: Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in the Medical Device or other regulated industry• Expertise in Cadence design tools• Experience with design of biomedical interfaces, either sensor acquisition or stimulation.• Experience that demonstrates ability to verify and troubleshoot ICs.• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering• Proven ability to define and develop top level system functions.• Proven ability to work with minimal supervision on complex projects.• Demonstrated innovation in defining and solving problems that stretch known technologies and techniques.• Lead or influence a team environment.• Demonstrated design and integration of biomedical systems, preferably of implanted devices.• Application knowledge of design for test and design for manufacturing methodologies.• Knowledge of semiconductor devices and fabrication technology.• Expertise with quality and statistical methods.
