Position Summary:

This position manages Brown-Forman brands VMP system (Vendor Managed Partner) to compliance of Walmart, the largest global retailer, along with providing basic analytical support on the business and account. The position will also manage and analyze Sam’s Club information in a similar fashion.

The Pricing Analyst manages the B-F cost and retail pricing components as a VMP partner to Walmart, while also providing analytical support on the Walmart business. This position also works with Distributor partners to ensure accuracy with Walmart pricing, retails and store deliveries, along with acting as the point of contact for Walmart data systems.


Account Pricing Management

• Assists with Retail Link reports and analytics for Walmart and Sam’s Club

• Provides monthly scan salesreports to internal and external partners

• Monitors inventory levels at Walmart and Sam’s Club

• Uses Retail Link data to draw conclusions by identifying trends and opportunities, and communicating findings to BF National Accounts Team

• Provides BF National Account Manager (NAM) with Quarterly forecast based on trends of MU/MD (Mark-Up, Mark –Down) impact to Budget (by geography)

o Provide NAM with weekly updates on status of MU/MD

• Provides ad-hoc analysis of the impact of retail changes in a given market

• Leads the process to gather costs from all distributors via eSkye, 6 months out

• Updates Buyer’s micro-managed forms quarterly

• Monitors competitive retails and uncovers opportunities; provides information to BF National Accounts Team so they can better lead dialogue with buyers on margin compression/expansion

• Effective and direct communication back to BF National Accounts Team with the ability to understand the scope of Walmart’s business

• Supports pricing for accounts through partnering with the NAR MPG

• Leads the Item Share Process with the distributors to ensure all BF items are visible to BF via Retail Link and eSkye

Pricing Data Management

• National Walmart pricing and system contact for over 140 B-F Distributor partners across 36 states

• Responsible for electronic data transmits to Walmart for 2,600 retail stores and 30,000 B-F distribution points

• Manages accuracy of costs, margins and retails for all BF brands in Walmart’s system

• Responsible for implementing lockdown pricing and margin requirements by product and state in accordance to Walmart’s guidelines and state regulations

• Set-up new items and link to distributor partners as well as monitors pricing entries for accuracy

• Submits new item requests to the buying office, collects new item information from TradeMarketing/Brand Teams for category management schematics

• Set-up new Walmart licenses to receive B-F electronic data files from Distributor partners

• Manages store module compliance changes from Walmart category managers. Enters item additions and deletions within account deadlines. Monitors inventory of deleted items for account sell-through

• Responds to Walmart office requests for immediate retail changes

• Oversees B-F Distributor pricing portal for Walmart, including Distributor account management

• Execute Add/Deletes and compliance by distributors

• Monitors Control states and Warehouse states pricing for margin compliance

Account Reporting

• Provides pricing compliance reports to the Walmart buying office and B-F sales team

• Acts as the B-F Walmart and Sam’s Retail Link administrator

• Acts as the B-F Atlas administrator

• Manages retails for focus brands in accordance to buying office direction

• Maintains records for new account licenses and item changes

• Maintains active Walmart and Sam’s item lists, Distributor contacts, and store license counts

Must have Requirements:

Education/Experience:Bachelor’s Degree with 3-5 years in similar position with experience in basic data analysis, preferably within consumer products company; or 9-11 years of relevant experience

• Proficient in Windows based programs such as Excel and Word

• Proficient in Retail Link, Nielsen, and scenario modeling

• Effective planning and organization in a high volume, deadline oriented environment.

• Ability to perform work with accuracy, with attention to detail and within established time frames.

• Ability to maintain and develop effective working relationships with all levels of Brown-Forman personnel, distributors and chain account buyers

• Strong communication skills

• Professional business writing and speaking skills required

• Problem solving skills and natural curiosity

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in alcohol beverage industry

• Knowledge of chain account management

• Experience working with Walmart in the pricing support and/or analytical experience

• Experience with Retail Link and the ability to transfer these skills to a new industry

• Ability to work within a Joint Business Planning model to deliver win/win scenarios for both Walmart and Brown-Forman #Herradura #AP 1
