The position of Business Unit Leader is responsible for supporting both the Business Unit by performing various functions that will help guide and foster a team spirit that supports both the Magna Employee's Charter and the goals of Bowling Green Metalforming. The Business Unit Leader oversees and monitors all activities, and personnel by acting as liaison in matters regarding policy application, employee relations and continuous improvement related to the Business Unit functions. Under the general direction of the General Manager and Assistant General Manager, the Business Unit Leader has ongoing contacts both internally and externally and must combine technical, human and conceptual skills to plan, control and lead the team toward meeting divisional objectives.
1.Build a High Performance Team that can deliver the results outlined in the Business Plan within the Magna Culture outlined in item number 5 below.2.Establish & maintain appropriate monitoring systems, ensuring effective measures, controls and reporting mechanisms exist. Promotes an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard.f.Promote MAFACT benchmarks to achieve World Class Manufacturing.g.Core values – Treat all team members equally, fairly, with dignity and respect without favoritism in accordance with company values. 7.Contribute to Continuous improvement and cost reduction activities.8.Launch and maintain work cells to meet and exceed customer requirements9.Improve housekeeping and plant organization including plant layout10.Control overtime in line with the Business Plan11.Improve efficiency by reducing set-up times12.Assist team members in troubleshooting machine, die, and material problems13.Reduce scrap; monitor key indicators for positive trends14.Provide a safe and healthful work environment that is free of recognized hazards for all team members, contractors and visitors15.Cooperate with all local, state and federal agencies, such as OSHA or the EPA, in the event of an inspection16.Know, follow and enforce all applicable SH&E Policies and Procedures17.Help manage Safety Performance Measurable such as Incident Rate and Monthly18.Overall performance to the measurable elements of our SH&E system are part of annual performance reviews19.Participates in establishing and implementing departmental policies, goals, objectives, and procedures20.Follow-up on dimensional corrections21.Decides corrective actions in accordance with related departments22.Responsible for product review and monitoring of dimensional deficiencies23.Review customer feedback on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis and initiate counter measures and/or activities required to fulfill the customer's expectations24.Performs written, documented audits on a frequent basis25.Has excellent product knowledge of the process supervised26.Has profound understanding of customer product specifications and requirements as well as basic understanding of customer processes.27.Leads the Area's Team to insure that BGM's business plan goals and objectives are met28.Continuously strengthens all systems to strive for Excellence regarding all aspects of the business29.Ensures Compliance with TS-1694930.Works together with the Materials Management team to implement strong systems for inventory control production planning and reporting 31.Root cause analysis and countermeasures implemented in a timely manner32.Works cross-functionally with Materials, Press, Engineering, and Quality to assure flawless execution in production33.Works together with the Tooling and Maintenance Teams implementing and sustaining PM and TPM systems for all equipment utilized
Education and/or Experience:-Technical Degree in Engineering or recognized Tool& Die Apprenticeship program desired-7-10 years' experience in an automotive stamping environment required-Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience of a large department preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:-Extensive Knowledge of Automotive Stamping Dies-Leadership Soft skills-Ability to develop front line leadership-Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel preferred
