Summary: The President of Development & Construction is responsible for the creation of pipeline of sites and the execution of new multi-family community's development projects intended for permanent hold. This instrumental leader works with the overall team to find, underwrite, secure, deliver projects on time, on budget, leased, and at quality. With keen knowledge of the market(s), management, problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills in order to manage a team to double the portfolio of The Collier Companies in the coming decade; our 2x Initiative!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
§ Define pipeline goals by timing, unit/production, and dollar volumes
§ Drives pipeline and business development to secure sites, obtain entitlements, and meets the pipeline goals for the market.
§ Collaborates with the team to create each project vision and ensure the implementation and execution of the project details from the pre-development phase to the lease-up of the project.
§ Ensures finance packages, market studies, and proposals are accurate and timely by working with other team members.
§ Direct and manage the construction execution team responsible for the construction of projects, coordination of designers and consultants and general contractor, etc.
§ Keeps approved projects on track for the budgeted start date.
§ Ensures seamless handoff of projects from development to construction to property management.
§ Establishes and maintains key relationships with market professionals, municipalities, and key relationships.
§ Represents and promotes The Collier Companies brand in public forums, industry events, and blogs.
§ Active brand ambassador for The Collier Companies and highly engaged in the community, political arena, and local, regional, and national industry organizations.
§ Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES/QUALIFICATIONS
§ 15+ years' experience in real estate development and with experience in project management and construction
§ Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or Business; Master's degree preferred
§ Proven successful experience in managing development projects from underwriting and acquisition, through planning, permitting, construction
§ Experience in construction, architecture, and/or multifamily projects
§ Experience in working with architects, engineers, contractors, property managers to execute an overall vision, strategy and plan for development of residential apartments and commercial retail space
§ Experience utilizing Construction Management Software
§ Exceptional leadership skills and a solid history of managing and motivating others
§ Must be a self-starter, highly motivated and goal oriented
§ Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
§ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
§ Flexible and able to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
§ Track record of consistently completing development projects on time and on budget
§ Must have a valid driver's license and transportation, which can accommodate moving equipment as needed.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
§ Physical demands include walking, driving, standing, sitting, stooping, crouching, reaching, stretching, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting and climbing stairs.
§ Outdoor and indoor work required, changing weather conditions.
