What You Possess

Slalom Consulting’s Silicon Valley office is seeking a Practice Area Lead (PAL) to join our Organizational Effectiveness practice. The individual in this role will work alongside existing OE leaders, and leaders from other practices, to provide thought leadership to our clients and drive sales of consulting solutions. To be considered as a leader within our OE practice, candidates should have consulting and sales expertise across several people-focused organizational disciplines, including organizational effectiveness, employee experience, leadership development, high performing teams, and culture change.

This role offers a unique opportunity to own and directly contribute to the growth of the practice. The individual will be responsible for the development, growth and quality execution of all our OE capabilities, as well as other practice-related activities including business development, client relationship management, recruiting, account management, project oversight and practice operations.

To be successful in the PAL role, we are looking for leaders who are comfortable driving overall growth of our practice area through a combination of:

·      Business Development – Leading business development activities with the intent to help clients succeed through net new projects and by evolving existing projects

Developing proposals, presentations, and statements of work (SOW) while recommending strategies to grow the OE Practice presence in existing accounts

Collaborating with account and sales teams to manage the pre-sales process with clients and provide the leadership throughout the opportunity lifecycle, from initial qualification to closure of the deal

Owning direct revenue responsibility of $3MM - $5MM with a target utilization range of 60-70% across multiple accounts

Maintaining an awareness of industry best practices and business levers for our offerings

·      Team & Individual Development – Maximizing team performance through an effective team approach that increases productivity and job satisfaction

·      Engagement Management – Exceeding client expectations, managing project economics and risks, and ensuring buy-in of proposed solutions from top management levels at the client

Defining Your Success

A successful PAL candidate will have the following characteristics:

·      A track record of successful and directly-related consulting/professional services management experiences

·      10+ years management/leadership experience including a history of increasing leadership responsibility and career growth

·      Successful track record with revenue generation exceeding $3MM

·      Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully across all levels of an organization

·      Excellent negotiation, conflict management, and problem-solving skills

·      Ability to operate effectively in the Silicon Valley culture, demonstrating flexibility and speed to results

·      Ability to assess and leverage strengths of a diverse group of people to maximize team performance along with proven success developing individuals

·      Adaptable to balancing the demands of multiple client assignments with team development while pushing the intellectual envelope in search of solutions to complex problems

·      An entrepreneurial mindset with the desire to develop her/his practice area within a larger organization by leveraging existing resources and capabilities in new and unique ways to achieve success
