PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage talented team of PR professionals; work closely with the Managing Director to analyze and define talent needs, define annual schedule of events to support and track annual budgets
  • Proactively share best practices and encourage new idea sharing among team to ensure we are using the latest technology and tactics to best serve our stakeholders
  • Work closely with Event Managers year-round to set and track against PR goals for each event cycle, assisting in development of comprehensive plans for each event brand
  • Proactively work across function, collaborating with marketing and sales teams (among others) to ensure our goals as a team align with the brands’ overall objectives for the year and accurately appeal to our attendees, exhibitors and media stakeholders
  • Partner with marketing to help develop and/or fine tune brand messaging as needed and work to ensure all messaging and branding is used consistently throughout the event cycle
  • Manage measurement and reporting of KPIs for team, ensuring we are consistently contributing to the business and exceeding expectations for our internal stakeholders and external communities we serve
  • Drive PR and communications tactics such as press release writing and overall brand messaging, proactive media outreach and influencer relationship building
  • Help secure pre-show event highlight pieces that fit the event(s) into larger trends within its respective industry
  • Work with Event General Managers and leadership as appropriate on spokesperson development by ghost writing contributed articles and developing them as thought leaders through relevant industry speaking opportunities
  • Stay on top of industry trends and latest technology advancements by reading industry publications, attending relevant professional development events and reporting back learnings to team
  • Work with MD on consistent internal messaging and comms that build a positive culture and engaging work environment

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Demonstrated PR and/or promotional marketing experience. Agency experience is a plus.
  • 7+ years of demonstrated communications/public relations experience
  • Positive experience in managing employee(s) and working in a collaborative team environment
  • Proven ability to prioritize, be assertive and a willingness to take ownership is key to success. Candidate must be detail-oriented with ability to handle various tasks simultaneously.
  • Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills a must. Candidate should be able to demonstrate strong writing of strategic plans, media news releases, messaging documents and more, while also showing a track record of strong professional relationships developed with key industry and internal stakeholders.
  • Skilled team player with ability to negotiate approvals diplomatically, and maintain composure and quality under deadline pressure.
  • Must be an energetic self-starter and resourceful problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, environment. Must be able to get things moving and keep them on track, all while maintaining a positive demeanor.
  • Ability to interface with all levels of staff from junior to executive level while maintaining professionalism and discretion.
  • Successful experience and demeanor liaising with media, conducting proactive outreach and managing inbound requests in a strategic and timely manner.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work with multiple teams and take direction from multiple individuals.
