Role Summary
• Develop, implement and execute broad VWoA Powertrain strategy
• Manage all strategic and market related issues regarding NAR Powertrains
• Prepare, create and present high level senior management presentations and achieve VW board decisions in the US and headquarters Germany

Role Responsibilities
Strategic Responsibilities (70%)
• Develop and implement overall short and long term North American Powertrain Strategy, that adhere to overall Brand objectives
• Focus on new powertrain technologies (e.g. EV)
• Provide broad strategic market overview and direction which reflect current and future sales trends, product availability and market forecast
• Integrate current and future CO2 legislation into broad powertrain strategy
• Analyze and evaluate trends and change in customer behavior
• Research and develop new strategies to improve VW NAR market position
• Directly manage and coordinate integration of internal departmental objectives
• Direct interface, interaction and collaboration with senior management within VWoA and Volkswagen AG.
• Coordinate with marketing and finance controlling team and management to ensure optimized powertrain product portfolio in NAR

Operational Work (30%)
• Steering of cross-departmental and cross-cultural teams
• Presentation of powertrain related topics in VW Product Forums and other senior managerial meetings
• Act as interface between powertrain product management Germany and NAR
• Prepare and create high level senior management presentations and present them to achieve decisions
• Work on and give input to the NAR “Aggregate Cycleplan” in collaboration with VW Marketing and present results to high level executives
• Support NAR specific legislative issues
• Manage interactions and foster cross-functional relationships between teams in NAR
• Internal Coordination and Communication – Work with VW departments/employees to create transparency and ensure integration and communication with all parties. • 8+ years of experience with automotive background
• 5+ year of experience in automotive strategy
• 3+ year of experience in automotive powertrain/electrical vehicles
• Bachelor in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent
• Excellent strategic thinking, negotiation and persuasion skills
• Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic
• Excellent communication skills – interpersonal, presentation and written
• Computer savvy – skilled in the use of software
• Integration – joining people, processes or systems
• Influencing and negotiation skills
• Resource management
• Vast experience in managerial- and strategic thinking
• Steering of cross-departmental and cross-cultural teams
• Excellent negotiation, communication and persuasion skills
• Knowledge of portfolio strategy methods
• Powertrain R&D background
• Background in electrical powertrain (Battery etc.)
• Extensive knowledge of Volkswagen AG Germany processes, forums and network

Desired Qualifications
• Master degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or equivalent

Work Flexibility
• Flexible work schedule, 25% travel North America and Europe (Germany)
