This position is primarily responsible for maintenance and support of the applications and associated data bases utilized in modern energy management systems for the daily real time operation of a bulk power transmission system. The supported applications include state estimation, power flow, contingency analysis, automatic generation control,outage scheduling, situational awareness, and power system modeling tools.
Specific responsibilities include:
Daily maintenance of the power system network model
Application design, development and maintenance
Routine engineering analysis to tune systems, investigate application failures, improve solution accuracy/performance, and automate business processes
System operator training and support
Trouble call support for application failures
In addition, this position is responsible for a variety of power system engineering assignments such as industry product evaluations, algorithm derivations for software models, and periodic cause and effect analysis of power system events.
BS and/or MSdegree in electrical engineering or computer engineering
Educational background and/or work experience in bulk power system operations and analysis preferred
Working knowledge of the UNIX operating system.
Some PERL, FORTRAN, C, and/or C programming skills.
Written and oral communication skills will be utilized on a daily basis.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment through cooperation and communication is expected.
