The Buck Institute, a non-profit research institute dedicated to the study of the basic mechanisms of the aging process and of age-associated diseases, such as neurodegenerative diseases and cancer.
The Buck Institute for Research on Aging in Novato is located 20 miles north of San Francisco & Berkeley. The Buck Institute is the only independent institute in the U.S. devoted solely to research on aging and age-related diseases. Our mission is to increase the healthspan, the healthy years of life. Awarded a federal grant to establish interdisciplinary research in a new field called Geroscience, Buck scientists work in a unique, collaborative environment that allows scientists to initiate studies quickly and respond to new opportunities in fields such as stem cell research and regenerative medicine.
A postdoctoral position is available immediately to model neurodegenerative diseases- Huntington’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease or Parkinson’s disease using iPSCs. Candidate should have some experience in stem cell biology, neurodegenerative diseases and CRISPR/Cas9. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated ability to be a leading author on peer-reviewed publications, provide innovative solutions to research problems, and have the ability to apply for fellowship/scholarship awards. A scientist who works well in an interdisciplinary team of scientists is ideal.
