Description

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of one of Sabert Corporation's paper facilities, including safety, quality, machine efficiencies, waste, preventative maintenance, overall profitability, and continuous improvement. This role provides leadership and direction to production, maintenance, quality, and support teams to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective plant operations.

    Ensure the safe operation of the plant and the safety of the manufacturing workforce.

    Ensure all departments have the required safety training, documentation, and records are current, accurate, and complete.

    Respond to plant safety audit results and lead corrective actions to eliminate unsafe work conditions.

    Oversee the overall management and direction of department production managers and the maintenance department.

    Ensure the Maintenance Work Order System and Preventative Maintenance programs are being executed across all areas of plant operations.

    Ensure manufacturing complies with all customer quality, food safety, and audit requirements.

    Partner with Quality Assurance on quality improvement initiatives, audit preparation and response, and quality training.

    Manage internal, external, and supplier-related quality issues, including corrective action, follow-up audits, and assessment of held material when required.

    Coordinate with production scheduling to ensure customer due dates are met, staffing levels support the production plan, and inventory levels remain appropriate.

    Drive process improvement initiatives for all KPIs, including safety, quality, machine efficiency, labor hours, waste, preventative maintenance, cost management, and profitability.

    Lead and support MDI and Kaizen events to drive waste reduction, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement across the facility.

    Analyze and review key manufacturing data to ensure the facility meets annual fiscal budget goals and company operational objectives.

    Review and approve all plant purchases while promoting a strong culture of fiscal responsibility.

    Train and develop salaried and hourly employees to support a strong and sustainable organizational capability.

    Work in accordance with the labor agreement while upholding management's rights.

    Partner with Plant HR Managers and department managers on employee discipline, grievances, and other workforce-related issues.

    Work with the Engineering and other Manufacturing or Plant Managers to optimize plant operations.

Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

    Master's degree in Engineering or Business preferred.

    10 to 12 years of experience as a proven manager in a manufacturing environment.

    At least 6 years of experience in a high-production environment.

    10 years of corrugated or paper manufacturing experience preferred.

    Strong knowledge of continuous improvement methods, including MDI and Kaizen event facilitation.
