The Sacramento Site Manager has overall operational responsibility for Operations at the Sacramento, CA site.

The site consists of (3) operating units:
- (2) Steam Methane Reformer Plants
- 5.5 TPD Hydrogen Liquifier Plant
- (2) LHY storage tanks
- LHY Pipeline Backup System

Gaseous and liquid hydrogen and gaseous nitrogen and oxygen are manufactured at the facilities and shipped off site via pipeline and by truck.

The Sacramento Site Manager administers all phases of the facilities’ operation to satisfy customer needs in a safe, environmentally conscience, efficient and reliable manner. The manager is the key interface with the Regional Business area and its customers and is expected to maintain and develop good relations with the greater Sacramento area community. Additionally, the manager will need to be able to identify and develop talent, while promoting teamwork. The manager will provide clarity around roles and responsibilities, authority, and expectations; moves work forward to effectively managing ambiguity, removing obstacles and eliminating non-value added work. He / She must be able to use understanding of cross-functional and enterprise implications of decisions to break down silos and leverage other resources and expertise for the greater good.

This position reports to the Western Region Operations Line Manager and will direct the Sacramento Operations Site Supervisor, with responsibility for the leadership and direction of the operations team, which includes 6 operator technicians. In addition, the manager provides support to the 8 LHY delivery drivers, and the admin assistant In NorCal.

Key Responsibilities for this position include:

  • Management of the site’s Basic Safety Process and Process Safety Management
  • Ensure Environmental compliance in accordance with Air Products Corporate and Governmental Regulations
  • Understand safe operating, design, permit limits; actively practice alarm management
  • Directly supervise site operators
  • Support of all aspects of the day-to-day operation, including troubleshooting plant process problems, supervising daily plant activities and driving plant projects
  • Identify maintenance concerns, develop and implement corrective measures with the maintenance team, carry out site preventive maintenance and mechanical integrity programs
  • Interface with customers and the Air Products commercial team
  • Implement and share best practices
  • Investigate incidents and near misses, understand and correct the root cause of failures

Candidates for this position will be evaluated on the following:

  • 8 to 10 years experience in process plant operation/maintenance and product distribution.
  • Strong commitment to EHS, employee development, team building and diversity
  • An engineering educational background would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated managerial leadership skills and proven interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated excellence in performance and continuity of management through the effective selection, development, and motivation of a team of employees organized to optimize individual and group capabilities.
  • Demonstrated excellence in asset management efforts to drive continuous improvement in business profitability.
  • Strong background in Community Outreach planning and development.
  • Ability to interface with senior customer representatives
