Responsible for leading all aspects of Human Resources including the implementation and administration of company human resource policies and programs and other administrative functions as necessary (ex. office services, food service operations, and security).  Responsibilities include:  employee selection and placement; training, wage, salary and benefits administration; equal employment opportunity and affirmative action; employee relations; employee services.  May direct a staff performing these responsibilities. 




  • Responsible for the identification of legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resource functions and ensures policies, procedures and reporting are in compliance.  Responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining policies that relate to Human Resources and responds to inquiries about these policies and practices.  Assures plant is in compliance with Corporate requirements.  Communicates to employees on such policies and concepts.


  • Responsible for the development and implementation of succession planning and career development.  Promotes this concept with facility managers.


  • Responsible for managing the plant Workers’ Compensation program in coordination with EHS Manager and Corporate Risk Management.


  • Responsible for hiring and/or placing employees to meet business requirements.

  • Manages new hire orientation programs. 

  • Responsible for the administration of compensation and benefits programs.  This includes conducting local wage surveys to determine competitive wage levels, assigning jobs to pay grades, and maintaining records required for various employee benefit programs.


  • Direct the review and adjustment of salaries within the established compensation system.  Recommend timely revision of salary ranges for production hourly employees.

  • Responsible for all aspects of employee and labor relations including all disciplinary matters and employee terminations.  Represents the company at personnel-related hearings and investigations. 

  • Responsible for proactive labor and employee relations activities to maintain non-union status of facility.


  • Responsible for all aspects of employee communications and plans and executes company events.


  • Responsible for overseeing employee training and employee performance assessments.


  • Responsible for developing and managing the budget for Human Resource operations and programs.


  • Responsible for managing administrative services as necessary (ex. including office support services, facility security and food service operations).


  • Supports all safety, quality and operational initiatives, both within the Human Resource Department and the entire facility.  Ensures a safe working environment in the plant by holding supervisors accountable for compliance with all safety policies and procedures, prompt accident investigations, and corrections and closures of identified safety issues.  Promotes continuous improvement in safety and environmental areas.


  • Other tasks and assignments consistent with demonstrated knowledge, skills and abilities.




  • A bachelor’s degree program in Human Resources, business or a related relevant field of study.


  • Minimum of 5-10 years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience in a distribution and/ or manufacturing environment.  

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex employee relations issues escalating to Plant Manager when necessary.

  • Proven experience using proactive human resources practices to maintain and continually improve a positive employee relations culture.  

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with proven experience in strategy development and critical thinking and problem solving. 

  • Proven experience using continuous improvement techniques (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, etc.). 

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by the ability to (a) think quickly “on your feet”, (b) write clear and concise reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals and (c) design and deliver presentations and respond to questions in group settings.


  • The ability to make sound and reasoned decisions, including the ability to break a problem/situation into various components, and to clarify the various components of a problem/situation through probing, seeking out knowledgeable parties, observing and skillful questioning.  Uses problem-solving techniques and tools such as EPS.  Able to integrate information (including technical matters) from various sources to generate priorities and reach sound conclusions. 

  • Experience in a leadership role; guiding and directing a team towards a common goal.


  • Organizational abilities necessary to plan and prioritize own work and that of subordinates. 

  • Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information with employees at all levels of the Company.  

  • Ability to establish and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. 

  • Demonstrated skills in the operation of various computer programs including, ADP, KRONOS, TMS, Applicant Tracking Systems, Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.


Qualifications Preferred:


  • SPHR or PHR certification.

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles. 

  • Global HRexperience and knowledge.  

Working Conditions:


  • Must be able to go into all work areas and any part of the grounds.  This may include areas that can be uncomfortable due to noise, odors and temperature extremes.

  • Must be available to address issues that occur on all shifts. 

  • Must be able to occasionally travel domestically and internationally.
