ACGI, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Armstrong World Industries has a job opportunity for a Human Resource Manager to provide strategic and tactical HR leadership to our manufacturing plant in Marshfield, MO. The Plant Human Resources Manager partners with Operations and Sales leaders to ensure HR strategies and initiatives are tightly linked to the objectives and key challenges of the facility and the business. The position has responsibility for a sales and design group, a nonunion plant and is a true generalist role with responsibility for staffing, development, employee relations, training, employee activities and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for the ideal HR Manager to add value by working with operations to build organizational capacity through leadership development, process improvement and individual/team development.

Key Responsibilities of the Plant HR Manager:

  • Leading and directing plant HR activities to support the achievement of plant performance metrics in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Employee Morale
  • Driving the execution of key HR initiatives and processes to enable continuous improvement in the areas of organization effectiveness, staffing, employee relations, performance management, training and development, benefits, employment practices and compliance
  • Supporting organization change, integration and continuous improvement efforts (such as Lean) and collaborate with plant leadership to ensure successful change management approaches through effective planning and analysis, communication of change initiatives, full and active leadership support and employee involvement
  • Coaching and developing plant leadership team members providing HR guidance and input on operational plans and decisions, and maintaining a forward looking staffing plan
  • Maintaining regular touch point meetings with individual leadership team members and front-line supervisors
  • Supporting and developing effective performance management and employee development systems for the salaried and production workforce
  • Developing and driving initiatives to foster employee engagement
  • Tracking and analyzing plant HR metrics to determine root cause and develop and execute action plans to address problem areas
  • Developing and implementing Human Resource strategies and techniques for improvement that provide support to the plant mission, critical issues and goals
  • Administering the collective bargaining agreement, oversee grievance process and all aspects of labor relations activity
  • Driving clear communication to all employees regarding change management in areas of programs and policies
  • Engaging in practical and rational employee relations including investigations, discipline, coaching and counseling to employees

Required Qualifications for the Plant HR Manager:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field
  • 5+ years of progressive human resources experience in a multi-shift, unionized, manufacturing environment including leadership of HRassociates
  • Proven knowledge of principles and processes related to recruitment, selection, training, compensation employee and labor relations, and HR information systems
  • Strong knowledge of applicable employment and labor laws
  • Clear, comprehensive understanding of the link between HR and business strategy
  • Ability to develop clear, actionable steps in support of the plant strategy
  • Ability to engage, inspire, and influence people
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong communications and presentations skills
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Process Improvement methodologies

Desired Qualifications for the Plant HR Manager:

  • MBA or MA/MS in applicable field of study
  • PHR or SPHRcertification

This position reports directly to the Sr. HR Manager, Operations.

About the Location (Marshfield, MO)

Our Marshfield plant in south western Missouri, one of ten Armstrong plants in North America, is conveniently located within 3 hours to large cities such as Tulsa, Kansas City, and St. Louis as well as within 30 minutes to the smaller City of Springfield. However, it's rural attributes serve to also attract outdoorsmen and nature enthusiasts. Eight large lakes are within an hour's drive, two smaller lakes are within 30 minutes. All offer an array of outdoor opportunities including fishing, boating, skiing, and sailing. Hiking, biking, wildlife areas, streams, and other river opportunities are within a short drive including the Niangua and Compton Hollow Conservation Areas just outside of Marshfield's city limits.
