Position Overview:

The Planning Manager will lead and develop a team of planners to successfully plan the materials and capacity needed to support demand for the Skaneateles-based operations. This role will continuously improve processes and develop staff members' skills and abilities to maximize service, minimize lead time, and minimize inventory investment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leading the Planning team, this candidate will use LEAN Manufacturing techniques (Kanban, Heijunka, Kaizen, and Gemba) to enable a smooth, predictable, and reliable flow of materials through the supply chain. An in-depth experience with materials management will allow this role to effectively start-up supply chains for new products, forecast demand to suppliers, manage implementation of engineering change orders and achieve service and inventory objectives.

As a collaborator, this candidate will work closely with Product Management, Sales, Engineering, Quality, Customer Care, Service, Final Assembly, Fabrications, and Shipping/Receiving departments to promote effectiveness in material availability, lead time, and inventory levels. This role will also become the hub of communication during periods when there may be exceptional demands placed on the supply chain.

As a leader, this candidate will challenge team members in a manner that effectively balances work, fosters growth while meeting the needs of our customers. To that end, this role will train, educate and develop a team of skilled professionals to become even more effective and assume increased levels of professional capability.

Leveraging supply chain expertise, this candidate will implement industry best practices and strive to introduce cutting edge new methods and continuous improvement practices.


Required Background:

Bachelor's in Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline is required coupled with 5 years in a Supply Chain Management function using an integrated ERP system.

An advanced degree desirable as well as CPIM certification and successful leadership of supply chain professionals. In addition, significant experience in a production-support Lean Six Sigma environment is highly desirable. SAP experience, Medical Industry experience, and knowledge of FDA and cGMP Regulations is also preferred.
