Opportunity to develop a Pipeline Services business line in the Northeast. Responsibilities include the management and design of pipeline and pipeline facility projects while interfacing with project team members, department managers, engineering discipline leads and client personnel. Additional responsibilities include development of new business, executing proposals, recruiting and hiring key talent, staffing projects, tracking pipeline business goals, and staff management. The Pipeline Project Manager shall have extensive knowledge ofdesign, permitting, land acquisition, procurement and construction services on pipeline projects and be familiar with executing pipeline workdirectly and/or through subcontractors. This role requires interface with internal and external resources across all pipeline services within the company. Projects will be both new and upgrade projects and will involve gathering, transmission or distribution. The candidate is expected to be able to execute detailed engineering, act as the Project Manager for multiple pipeline projects, and grow a team as detailed below: Responsibilities:

  • Design of pipelines and related facilities.
  • Execute complex project assignments in a self-directed manner.
  • Recruitment, training and mentoring of a pipeline engineering team
  • Provide leadership, guidance and instruction to less experienced staff members.
  • Meet and correspond with client’s engineering staff on a regular basis.
  • Review scope and provide input on required skill sets
  • Identify the required design codes, standards and industry practices to apply to specific project tasks.
  • Interpret and disseminate design codes and standards for less-experienced staff.
  • Champion and participate in the continual improvement of internal design processes and standards.
  • Utilize and promote the BMCD QA/QC process
  • Direct and coordinate activities of multiple disciplines on pipeline projects.
  • Direct communication with external clients and subcontractors.
  • Be main liaison with individuals within and outside of the organization with responsibility to act independently.
  • Provide oversight to lead discipline engineers, project controls specialists and procurement staff assigned to projects.
  • Direct design teams and facilitate resolution of design challenges, delegate tasks and monitor progress.
  • Identify resource requirements for projects.
  • Provide direction on project planning, budgeting and critical project objectives.
  • Work directly with clients to identify and meet expectations providing responses in a timely manner.
  • Lead proposal development including scope of work, cost and schedule for all sizes of projects.
  • Participate in business development activities.
  • Initiates and/or participate in contract negotiations with clients and subcontractors.
  • Make recommendations and contribute to critical decisions that will have an impact on major company projects and programs.
  • Initiate and/or participate in decisions regarding business strategies.
  • Build project teams using a combination of internal and external resources to execute projects

Requirements Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university. Minimum of 10 years of progressive pipeline engineering experience, including 5 or more years of experience managing engineering projects. Completion of master's degree in related field may be substituted for one year of experience. Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments. Must have experience with the production of pipeline design and construction documents. Requires knowledge and experience working with codes and standards listed in DOT 49 CFR Parts 192 & 195. Must be capable of devising new approaches to problems encountered. Previous consulting experience preferred. Professional Registration Required.
