Job DescriptionPURPOSE OF POSITION:Restore lost capacity in clinical care capacity. Decrease waiting list and promote interdisciplinary quality of care
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES Evaluate, monitor, and diagnose children and adult patient to determine psychiatric treatment and plans. Counsel patients, manage medication, and monitor patients' progress. Coordinate care with primary physicians and clinicians. Supervision of Medical and Psychiatric services.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide general adult and children psychiatric care, conducting diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, medication management, and interdisciplinary consultation.
- Develops treatment plans by determining nature and extent of cognitive, emotional, developmental, social, and behavioral disorders; establishing treatment goals and methodologies.
- Maintains interdisciplinary treatment by reviewing treatment plans and progress; consulting and collaborating with primary care physicians, mental health therapists, nurses, and other health care providers.
- Establish professional working relationships with other clinical service providers within the medical center and outlying clinics, provide telephone and consultations as needed.
- Maintains historical records by documenting symptoms, medications. and treatment events; writing summaries.
- Establish effective communication with patients, families, visitors and members of the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide direct clinical supervision of and educational activities for psychiatry fellows and residents, medical students, advanced practice nurses or physician assistants and other staff as appropriate. Improves staff competence by providing training and discussions regarding the interrelationship between psychosocial and physiological problems, psychotropic medications, crisis intervention, and related issues.
- Participate in team meetings and treatment team discussions as appropriate.
- Cooperate with and participate in medical duties or functions related to quality of care and safe service for patients and staff by enforcing policies, procedures, standards, rules, Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Care Organizations requirements, and legal regulations; participating in utilization reviews; remaining available for emergency consultations.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in continuing medical educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
Minimum Qualifications1. Graduation from an approved medical school.
2. Completion of approved residency or fellowship in the specialty or sub-specialty and Board eligible or certified or Subboard eligible or certified.
3. Five years experience in field of specialty or subspecialty acceptable to the Medical Board of the Hospital.
4. Licensed to practice medicine in the State of New York.
