Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
Documents patient care performed, assessments made, and orders given. Communicates significant changes in patient condition to Primary Care Provider and/or Specialist. Coordinates discharge planning with case manager for admitted patients. Acts as admitting, attending, and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff, and hospital. Recommends, participates in, and actively works to ensure the success of efforts to improve the cost effectiveness of care provided to patients.
Organizes and constructs a coverageschedule in collaboration with other hospitalists to ensure continuous coverage. Provides coverage in theevent of colleague's absence or exceptionally high patient volume.Participates as needed in Quality Improvement initiatives.Develops and oversees thepatient care plan in connection with entire clinical care team.Works to ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care, in a timely, effective, service-oriented manner.Provides care in the context of promoting age- and culture-appropriate informed choices,shared decision making, and the right to self-determination.
Doctor of Medicine ? Preferred x Required
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
