Role Overview

We seek an experienced Physician Principal to join the Performance Operations practice as a consulting leader and subject matter expert in clinical transformation. Principals provide leadership across multiple dimensions – thought leadership, consulting engagement delivery, client service, business development, and cultural stewardship. As a member of the leadership team, a Principal is responsible for advancing the firm’s impact by leading the execution and delivery of large, complex consulting engagements, as well as expanding new and potential business opportunities.

The Performance Practice is comprised of a full suite of Financial Performance Improvement, M&A Integration Support, Physician Enterprise Transformation, and Access & Service Innovation services to help our clients meet their financial and operational goals. Our Performance practice works with clients to transform financial, operational, and clinical performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of client engagements within Chartis’ Performance Operations Practice including directing the activities of the engagement team, leading the problem-solving process, and overseeing team analysis and deliverables 
  • Act as a key leader in the firm in the overall domain of transformation of the Physician Enterprise, crafting consulting solutions that advance our clients’ physician-based strategies and operations
  • Advance the firm’s thought leadership in the industry through the development of distinctive insights and new service offerings 
  • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with existing and prospective clients, drawing upon healthcare knowledge and insights to surface and discuss issues within and beyond the scope of specific consulting engagements 
  • Embody the role of people leader by cultivating strong relationships with colleagues, as well as mentoring and developing consulting colleagues 
  • Foster collaboration within engagement teams, across practices, and at all levels of the firm 
  • Help maintain a collaborative culture that attracts world-class, passionate, and mission-driven consultants 

Qualifications and Desired Skills

  • Medical Doctor (MD) required with 5+ years of demonstrated experience in provider leadership roles; other advanced degrees (e.g., MHA, MBA) are considered valuable
  • Prior management consulting experience preferred
  • Experience leading operational initiatives such as financial performance improvement, physician enterprise transformation, and access
  • Intellectual horsepower that drives distinctive consultation to clients and enduring contributions to the firm 
  • Superior communicator able to convey insights in a way that motivates clients to action 
  • Outstanding people leader, adept at attracting, motivating, and developing consulting professionals and blending them into high-functioning teams 
  • Solid track record of developing and managing strong client relationships and leveraging those relationships into high-impact engagements
  • Motivated and driven by mission; genuinely seeks to materially impact healthcare for the better 

Salary range: $250,000-350,000, plus may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs. In addition, Chartis offers several benefits including medical, dental, vision, HSA, FSA, disability insurance, life insurance, 401(k) match, paid time off, wellness stipend, and additional voluntary benefits.
