Program Highlights:
  • You will be joining the team of three pediatric epilepsy providers, one general neurology provider with a special interest in neonatal neurology, and one neurology nurse practitioner with a specialization in autism evaluation
  • 24-hour EEG video monitoring with a total of 4 EEG machines (ER, ICU, floor, ambulatory EEG monitoring) with a dedicated pediatric EEG technologists
  • EMR- EPIC
  • Ample and competent support staff allows you to work smarter, not harder
  • Affiliation to various LSU and Woman's hospitals. (state of art SMA treatment with advanced gene therapy)

Clinical, teaching, and administrative responsibilities include:
  • Provide clinical care to both outpatients and in-patients at children's hospital
  • Participate in call duties covering Neurology
  • Teaching and evaluating students and residents in the program
  • Displaying innovation regarding process improvements and new practices
  • Motivation to further build and enhance existing neurology practice

Physician Job Summary:
  1. The Staff Physician provides direct patient care and emergency services in an effort to ensure that patient health care needs are met at all times.

Experience, Education, Training, Special Skills, and Licensure:
  1. MD
  2. Graduate from an accredited medical school. and Completion of a Pediatric Neurology Fellowship
  3. Special interest in General Pediatric Neurology, Stroke, Neuromuscular, Neuroimmunology, or headaches preferred
  4. Current unrestricted Louisiana Medical License

Job Function:
  1. Patient Care
    1. Provides direct patient care in the office and at other locations, develops treatment plans, and assesses patient's response to treatment while ensuring that all health care services provided are of the highest quality.
    2. Provides high quality emergency care to patients on an on-call basis and in rotation with other physicians in an effort to ensure that patient health care needs are met at all times (Industrial Medical Center's Staff Physician does not provide on-call services).
  2. Quality and Performance Improvement
    1. Investigates new techniques, practices, and equipment in an effort to identify ways of maximizing the quality and efficiency of health care services provided to patients.
    2. Assists in the development and implementation of continuous quality improvement programs and participates in multi-disciplinary continuous quality improvement efforts. Assists in ensuring that all services provided by the department are performed with compassion, understanding, and respect for others.
    3. Ensures the appropriate application of the hospital's mission and philosophy and departmental and hospital policies and procedures in a manner that promotes the provision of high quality health care services and departmental effectiveness.
    4. Promotes the quality and efficiency of his/her own performance by remaining current with the latest trends in field of expertise through participation in job-relevant seminars and workshops, attendance at professional conferences, and affiliations with national and state professional organizations.
  3. Collaboration and Partnership
    1. Collaborates with other physicians in order to ensure the provision of high quality medical care and technologically advanced health care services by the hospital.
    2. Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, and training sessions in an effort to share his/her own expertise with others and further the quality of education and personal growth provided to new personnel, volunteers, and interning students.
  4. Other Duties
    1. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
