Job Details: HOSPITAL/OUTPATIENT PHYSIATRIST
Maine Medical Partners Neurosurgery & Spine is seeking a BC/BE Physiatrist for their Inpatient Physiatry Consultative Service at Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine.
The selected candidate will work closely with a core team of Neurohospitalists at the comprehensive stroke center at Maine Medical Center, with a focus on neurorehabilitation. The Physiatry Consultative Service is primarily inpatient medicine, with no primary attending responsibilities or call coverage, with a Monday through Friday schedule. Candidates with experience in pediatrics is valuable but not required.
Candidates will have routine interactions with neurology, trauma, and critical care. The successful candidate will be part of a larger, full service team of physiatrists who are well-established in the community. Responsibilities include in-hospital consultations through discharge, and follow ups five days per week. Candidates will liaise and/or round with hospital services, including Trauma, Neurocritical Care, Vascular Surgery, Neurology and Medicine, and will have an opportunity to continue to build the growing consult volume. This position will work closely with an employed group of Neurohospitalists managing a rapidly growing comprehensive stroke center and telestroke service. There is also a close partnership with The New England Rehabilitation Hospital of Portland, the only free standing acute rehabilitation hospital in Maine.
In addition, there is a busy and growing Physiatry outpatient practice, and candidates would have an opportunity for outpatient and general Physiatry if desired. Conditions treated include Stroke, TBI, SCI, amputee, spasticity management, and spine care. In house procedures include EMG and US guided injections for chemodenervation and musculoskeletal conditions.
Maine Medical Partners Rehabilitation Medicine is part of a larger Maine Medical Partners Neurosurgery and Spine group. The practice provides compassionate, high-quality and personalized care to the people of Maine and northern New England with disorders of the brain and spine. Over the last 3 years the practice has expanded the inpatient consultation role while initiating an outpatient clinic caring for the full range of rehabilitation diagnoses. The practice includes 8 physiatrists along with neurosurgeons, orthopedic surgeons and pain anesthesia. Along with Maine Medical Partners Neurology the two practices make up the majority of providers in the expanding and well-resourced Neuroscience Institute at Maine Medical Center.
