ResponsibilitiesPhysician Assistant to work with any surgical specialty to provide patient care, under the responsibility and supervision of a physician, diagnostic and therapeutic tasks to allow the physician to extend their services. Within the physician/physician assistant relationship, physician assistants may exercise autonomy in decision making within the constraints of appropriate experience and training. Physician Assistant practice is centered on patient care and may include educational, research and administrative activities.
- Assist physicians and/or conducts evaluation of patients by eliciting a detailed and accurate medical history, perform a complete physical examination and record all pertinent data.
- Perform and/or interpret and/or order routine diagnostic studies including routine laboratory procedures, common radiological studies and EKG tracings.
- Re-evaluates patients' health status at protocol prescribed intervals; prescribes treatment drugs on the basis of standing orders, orders required lab tests, monitors results, discusses with the physicians all abnormal findings and lab results, initiates and/or assist in carrying out physician-prescribed interventions, reports and documents all adverse experiences (toxicities, hospitalizations, etc.) according to established procedures.

- Perform therapeutic procedures, including injections, nasogastric and urinary catheterization, and insertion of intravenous lines.

- Counsel patients regarding physical and mental health, as well as provides patient information on nutrition, health promotion, pertinent health education and, if needed continued

Qualifications• Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant educational program.
• Current NYS registration as a Physician Assistant.
• Current certification/admissibility issued by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants).
• BLS Certification
• Infection Control Certification
• Proven ability to work in a team environment and ability to interact with patients and their families in manner that instills confidence and facilitates communication.
Benefits include:- Salary range - $127,308 - $169,744
- This is an 1199 union position. Benefits will come from the union.
