Job Description

Salary Range: Starting at $60/hr (Dependent on education and experience)

Title: Physical Therapist (PT)

Job Category: Service Provider

Reports to: Program Director

FLSA: Exempt

Basic Functions:

PT is responsible for leading the service delivery process, including but not limited to patient screenings, assessment, and evaluation process. PT designs patient/client treatment plans and is responsible for implementing treatment plans by providing high quality physical therapy services. PT regularly collaborates with other disciplines and services and is expected to independently review outcomes and modify intervention programs. Clinical reasoning and professional judgment are essential for ensuring the safety of patients and protecting liability of the patient and the therapist. Direct supervision when not prohibited by current license restrictions, may be exercised over support personnel, such as physical therapy assistant(s).

Qualifications:
  • Minimum Education requirements:
  1. License or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist with the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department: New Mexico Physical Therapy Board
  2. Graduation from Physical Therapy program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.

Responsibilities and Objectives:
  • Works towards fulfilling Company's Mission, Vision and Values.
  • Provides targeted, evidence-based therapeutic interventions to facilitate patient participation and physical performance within the home environment.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary meetings to review evaluation results, integrate findings with other disciplines, offer recommendations, and develop individual treatment programs.
  • Monitors and reassesses the effects of physical therapy intervention and the need to continue, modify, or discontinue intervention.
  • Teaches, monitors, and collaborates with support personnel and patient family to facilitate skills in areas of physical functionality as well as health maintenance and safety.
  • Participates in team discussions in an articulate, positive, and productive manner.
  • Maintains assigned equipment in proper working order. Performs routines repairs.
  • Instructs staff, as assigned, in principles used in physical therapy including but not limited to promotion of balance, movement and gross motor skills, effective environmental adaption and adaptive equipment use, patient safety, and other techniques specific to individual patient care.
  • Completes all documentation in a timely manner.
  • Attends departmental/business staff development activities.
  • Maintains proficiency in physical therapy by attending workshops, conferences and trainings offered by other therapists.
  • Attends all mandatory in-services and participates in Company committees as requested by supervisor.
  • May represent the Company while participating in community outreach events, activities, meetings, trainings, etc.
  • Responds to emergency situations in a competent manner.
  • Adheres to PT licensure requirements.
  • Adheres to established Company guidelines within all Company's Official Documents.
  • Assists in quality management, research, public relations, and program development projects when appropriate.
  • Participates in Company's Professional Development Plan.
  • May be assigned to be a clinical supervisor for assistant level students.
  • Carries out all responsibilities professionally and efficiently.
  • Maintains effective communications at all levels; within the work setting and company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Due to the nature of the Company, treatment settings will vary. Must be able to adapt to a variety of settings and be willing to work in office, community, school, and homes.
  • Work area may be crowded.
  • Working schedule may vary due to the nature of the business.
  • Duties may involve being on one's feet for extended periods.
  • Duties may involve traveling to and from areas within the southwest region of New Mexico.
  • Duties may involve exposure to hazardous conditions using power tools, contagious diseases, and chemicals to repair/adjust patient equipment.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
