Design electronically steered phased array antennas for LEO, MEO, and GEO VSAT applications. Design parabolic antennas (featuring self-pointing and auto-acquisition) for VSAT applications. Write technical proposals and create engineering development plans for funded NRE bids. Conduct trade studies to optimize the design of VSAT equipment and satellite communications systems. Provide technical guidance to antenna manufacturers integrating iDirect’s modems into their antennas. Establish requirement specifications for third party supplier Phased Array Antenna and RF components. Oversee third party supplier procurements, quality evaluations/testing, and design efforts to ensure compliance with established requirements. Provide technical feedback to Product Management and assist with development of new products. Work closely with Sales Executives, Channel Development Managers, and System Engineers to identify opportunities for iDirect solutions. Write presentations and white papers and present technical content to customers and partners.
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field and one (1) year of experience in satellite communications. Experience or courework must involve one (1) year of experience in the following: designing electronically steered phased array antennas; electromagnetic simulation software including HFSS, CST, ADS, and MATLAB; software programming languages including C, C++, and MATLAB; mathematical modeling of the performance of different designs for VSAT antennas, radio transmitters (BUC), and radio receivers (LNB); writing technical requirements to control the design and manufacturing of VSAT antennas, radio transmitters (BUC), and radio receivers (LNB); testing, troubleshooting, and writing test plans for VSAT antennas and radio transceivers (BUC and LNB); production processes used to manufacture antennas and transceivers (BUC and LNB); regulations governing radio transmissions to satellites including FCC, ETSI, and ITU; operating VSAT equipment, including Evolution or Velocity equipment from iDirect; and analyzing third party products, including Antennas, BUCs, and LNBs.
