Description/Qualifications

Your Role With Us:

The Pharmacy Operations Manager is responsible for managing supervising, directing, analyzing, and evaluating various pharmacy services in outpatient community/retail and specialty pharmacy. Ensures all activities comply with standards, laws, and policies. Works in collaboration with pharmacy leadership. Adopts, develops, and reviews best care practices, policies and process improvements. Responsible for budget management and quality assurance of pharmacy practices, along with utilization review and management.

Core Functions:

Manage, supervise, direct, analyze, and evaluate the following services as applicable:

• Outpatient Community and Specialty Pharmacy Operations
• Pharmacy Residents
• Related outpatient pharmacy services
• Other services as directed

Ensure all activities comply with applicable:

• Credentialing standards
• State and Federal law
• Salem Hospital Policy

Work in collaboration with pharmacy leadership to:

• Develop, monitor and adjust services/programs
• Develop and monitor budgetary and quality goals
• Coordinate the development and implementation of drug use policies
• Coordinate medication safety program
• Foster staff participation in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating service activities and goals
• Implement and utilize technology
• Educate and teach staff and prescribers

Adopt, develop and review:

• Best care practices
• Process Improvement

Drug specific related responsibilities:

• Budget development and performance
• Utilization review and management

Background/Expertise:

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) or BS in Pharmacy
• Minimum of five (5) years of work experience in a Hospital or Ambulatory care setting with at least three (3) years of supervisory or management experience or completion of a PGY1 Residency program
• Experience and familiarity with healthcare electronic devices including: infusion devices, software applications, electronic health record programs, pharmacy computer systems, automated dispensing devices & software, etc.
• Experience in program development.
• Licensed Pharmacist, in good standing, with Oregon Board of Pharmacy as of date of hire or eligible to become licensed within 60 days of hire
• Licensed Pharmacist Preceptor with the Oregon Board of Pharmacy
• BLS from the AHA within six (6) months of hire.
• Working knowledge of all Federal and State laws governing pharmaceutical products, medical devices, and the practice of pharmacy.
• Working knowledge of healthcare accreditation requirements that apply to the provision of pharmaceutical services.
• Working knowledge of healthcare billing and reimbursement issues.
• Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to present concerns and ideas in a professional manner in multidisciplinary settings.
• Ability to work with people, to listen and problem solve effectively.
• Ability to develop and implement sound drug use policies to achieve optimal patient outcomes and maintain safety.
