SCOPE OF POSITION
The Pharmacy Information Systems Manager is a MSHA position responsible for overseeing the development, implementation and support of all pharmacy applications and related hardware, including but not limited to, pharmacy information systems, CPOE medication orders, bar code medication administration (BCMA), automated medication dispensing systems, medication inventory management counsels, bar code label software, and unit dose packagers. Additional responsibilities include oversight of collection, management and analysis of pharmacy related reports and statistical data and for electronic health record management. The Pharmacy Information Systems Manager will participate in the development of a portion of the I.S. budget as it relates to pharmacy applications and have responsibilities for budget compliance. He/She will also be responsible for managing the Pharmacy Applications Team.

The Pharmacy Information Systems Manager must be knowledgeable about medication use and administration, as well as (access to) drug information relative to the neonate, infant, pediatric adolescent, adult and geriatric patient age groups served across MSHA. He/he must have an in-depth understanding of the clinical and technical aspects and service goals of Pharmacy Services in order to provide advice, leadership and guidance concerning technology requirements. Additionally, he/she must be committed to continually updating knowledge bases and skills in both professional and related technology arenas. He/she should be familiar with Microsoft Office and database management systems.

The Pharmacy Information Systems Manager will serve as liaison between Pharmacy Services and the Information Systems Department to ensure pharmacy applications promote the highest quality patient care and safety and assist in meeting or exceeding standards of compliance for all accreditation and regulatory bodies. System problems will be addressed promptly to reduce the impact to patient care and ensure safety and integrity.

The Pharmacy Information Systems Manager must possess initiative, sound judgment, high aptitude for organization and attention to detail in order to carry out job duties. He/she must be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Good verbal and written communication skills are required. The desire to provide exceptional customer service is also required.

The ideal candidate would possess knowledge and experience in cultivating long term strategic goals in conjunction with end users, managers, clients and other stakeholders. They would direct, organize and lead projects in the implementation and use of new software tools and systems. Experience with leading integration efforts for merging platforms with enterprise systems and applications is expected. The Pharmacy Information Systems Manager would also oversee the design, coding, testing and documentation of all new or modified systems, applications and programs. Understanding and assisting in the design of database interoperability with enterprise solutions is critical to the success of this position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
A graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education and hold or be eligible for current licensure by the appropriate state’s Board of Pharmacy (Licensure must be obtained within 90 days of hire). Doctor of Pharmacy degree is preferred. Previous institutional pharmacy experience is required. Special consideration will be given to those individuals with documented experience for developing, implementing, and supporting pharmacy applications. Candidates will be evaluated individually for depth and relativity of experience.
