The Pharmacy Clinical Specialist will collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other allied health providers in the Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (NSICU) to provide excellent pharmaceutical care and services. The Clinical Specialist is responsible for ensuring safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols; providing accurate, adequate, and timely drug information; providing staff education to physicians, nurses, and pharmacists; responsible for supporting quality initiatives through data analysis and management; and supporting effective operation through policy development, staff engagement, and expeditious medication order verification and delivery.
1 year of Clinical Pharmacy Hospital experience
Graduation from and ACPE Accredited Institution;
State of Virginia Pharmacy License or eligibility to obtain within 60 days of hire.
Completion of an ASHP-accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency with at least 3 years of practice in an NSICU or Critical Care related setting (with a focus in neuroscience) OR completion of a PGY-2 Critical Care Pharmacy Residency (with a focus in neuroscience).
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
