New Hanover Regional Medical Center - United States

New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NHRMC) is looking for a highly skilled pharmacist to serve as its Pharmacy Automation Manager. NHRMC is the 9th largest health-system in North Carolina with800 + beds and is a level II trauma, teaching community hospital. In addition to the main campus, NHRMC consists of a 150-bed Women's and Children's Hospital, a 75-bed orthopedic hospital, a 60-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility, a 62-bed inpatient behavioral health hospital, and an 86-bed critical access hospital. The Department of Pharmacy has 9 administrative positions, 55 Pharmacist FTEs, 49technician FTEs, and 12support staff.

Pharmacy personnel are intimately involved in direct patient care including interdisciplinary rounds, transitions of care, code response, consult services, and hospital quality measures.

The Pharmacy Automation Manager (AM) is responsible for the oversight and management of the automated dispensing machine system, medication distribution automation system, controlled substance dispensing system, TPN Compounding software, IV center workflow software, and coordination of pharmacy workflow with the Epic Willow Team. The AM will use

The AM will use LEAN methodology to develop, implement, improve and continuously leverage available automation to improve patient care and safety. The AM will work with managers within and outside of the department on hospital expansion and improvement projects to effectively leverage and utilize pharmacy automation. The AM will be responsible for managing automation project timelines and financial impacts to the health system. This position is also responsible for the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Automation technician staff and expected to offer Informatics rotations for both resident and student learners.

Applicants must have graduated from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy, have completed a PGY1 residency, or equivalent and be eligible for North Carolina licensure. EPIC certification will be required. Intermediate computer skills, interface skills and project management skills are necessary. Applicants that have completed a PGY-2 Informatics residency and/or have previous hospital administration and automation experience are preferred.
