Providence is calling a Pharmacist Drug Information Manager (DIM) to Providence Health & Services in Renton, WA.

We are seeking a Pharmacist Drug Information Manager (DIM) to support Providence St. Joseph Health centralized formulary decision-making process, System Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&S), P&T groups implementing decisions, as well as the Local P&T committees. The DIM is responsible for managing the work of the System P&T medical staff committee and system-wide supported pharmacy clinical subgroups as well as other system pharmacy, nursing, supply chain, and many other healthcare expertise collaborations. The Pharmacy Drug Information Manager will, with support from the system-wide pharmacy expertise and direction of the Director, System Medication Utilization Management, develop and organize medication information content to support the formulary review process. This includes facilitating preparation and presentation of class reviews, drug monographs, information summaries, agendas, minutes, and newsletters to support the program. The DIM also supports facilitating education on medications through managing development and distribution of reference materials and providing direct education of health care providers and students using effective teaching methods and the expertise throughout PSJH.

In this position you will:

  • Oversee standardized delivery of synthesized drug information to clinician decision makers in an accurate and timely manner by a team of pharmacy clinical specialists.
  • Manage and lead acute-care formulary development projects that strive for alignment with ambulatory care settings and Health Plan objectives. Creates team goals/objectives.
  • Promote system-level change management via process development and improvement, completion and presentation of periodic status reports, participation in initiatives designed to promote evidence-based prescribing patterns among providers, and facilitation of formulary decision making. Serves as a non-voting clinical pharmacy subject matter expert (SME) on formulary decision-making governing bodies.
  • Supervise and direct the work of PH&S drug informationclinical pharmacists, assigning work, prioritizing responsibilities, and providing direction and feedback. Edits and approves clinical/financial/operational data within medication reviews, providing guidance and direction on content, presentation, incorporation of input, recommendations; approves readiness for formal consideration.
  • Educate and train pharmacy students, interns, residents, and colleagues, along with other health care professionals in critical appraisal of biomedical literature and the formulary review process. Plans teaching activities to meet teaching needs. Supervises and coaches trainees of different levels.
  • Collaborate with system-level Epic, Informatics, and Healthcare Intelligence analyst teams to develop clinical reports and present EMR build options that promote and reflect formulary standardization and increase provider satisfaction.
  • Interface with PH&S Pharmacy Contracting team to coordinate and align the system formulary process with medication contracting strategies.



Required qualifications for this position include:

  • PharmD and PGY1 residency (or equivalent experience)
  • Must be eligible for pharmacist licensure in WA.
  • Strong clinical pharmacy knowledge base required; experience with drug information management preferred.
  • Sound working knowledge of pharmacy practice, formulary management and drug information management.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics, data analysis and data bases. Experience in multiple clinical computer information systems and databases.
