The Performance Marketing Manager role will help to drive audience acquisition and retention through our organic and paid channels.

The Performance Marketing Manager will report to the Vice President, Growth Marketing. We’re looking for an extraordinary performance marketer who has a proven track record of driving significant growth through execution of performance marketing campaigns. You will be responsible for helping drive strategy, building and managing campaigns across a variety of digital and offline channels and working with cross functional teams to acquire and retain Members. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, innovative, problem solver who gets things done and is excited about growth.

About theSkimm

The Skimm (styled theSkimm) is an email newsletter publisher launched in 2012. It was created by Danielle Weisberg and Carly Zakin, and focuses on delivering popular news to its subscribers' email on the morning of each business day. In 2015, its newsletter had over 1.5 million subscribers. The daily news reports follow a similar pattern: quote of the day, a popular story, what people are watching, and other unique things the editors want to write each day. The Skimm focuses on a short, simple, and easy-to-read version of the news, and is specifically targeted at urban women aged 22-34. Weisberg and Zakin were two college students from two different cities. Zakin was attending the University of Pennsylvania and Weisberg, Tufts University. They met when they were both studying abroad in Rome. After college they both happened to pursue careers as producers at NBC News. Both the women describe themselves as "news nerds." They wanted to create an easy-to-read way to learn about the news and current events. In July 2012, they resigned from their jobs and started The Skimm. The community around The Skimm quickly grew and now celebrities like Oprah, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Michelle Obama call themselves subscribers and supporters. Weisberg and Zakin have found themselves surrounded by their self-made success. They were guests on Good Morning America and have done multiple interviews discussing their creation. The company raised $7.9 million in 2014. In 2016, theSkimm launched the Skimm Ahead app, which synchs with the users iPhone calendar to keep the user up to date on interesting or relevant events.
