People Business Partner

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Role:

CoolIT Systems is seeking a results-oriented People Business Partner to join our Calgary team.

The ideal candidate brings a minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, along with strong problem-solving, influencing, and collaboration skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced tech environment.

This role partners closely with leaders to support business objectives, provide strategic guidance on employee relations, and lead investigations with a focus on fair and compliant outcomes. It also leverages workforce metrics to inform decisions, supports performance management practices, and develops practical, scalable People & Culture solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Build strong, trusted partnerships with leaders to understand business objectives, operational challenges, and People & Culture priorities.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to leaders on employee relations matters, including performance management, workplace conflict, disciplinary action, and applied policy guidance.
  • Lead and support employee relations cases and investigations, ensuring fair, consistent, and legally compliant outcomes while balancing business needs and employee experience.
  • Partner with operations leaders to use key workforce metrics (e.g., turnover, absenteeism, engagement trends) to support informed people decisions and identify emerging risks.
  • Identify and resolve People & Culture challenges as the organization evolves, developing practical, scalable solutions aligned with operational realities.
  • Partner with leaders to ensure effective application of performance management practices, including goal setting, feedback, development planning, and corrective action where required.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant employee records within HRIS platforms (UKG, Deel), ensuring strict confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Stay current on employment legislation, labor standards, and best practices, ensuring People & Culture practices remain compliant and aligned with business needs.


WHO YOU ARE:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a business partner capacity.
  • Strong working knowledge and practical application of applicable employment legislation, labour standards, and HR policies.
  • Demonstrated experience across core HR generalist disciplines, including Employee and Labour Relations, Talent Management, Organizational Development, Compensation and Total Rewards, Wellness, and Disability Management.
  • Proven ability to manage complex employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Experience supporting workforce planning, organizational design, and business consultation in operational or fast-paced environments.
  • Familiarity with HRIS platforms and comfort using system-generated reports to support people decisions.
  • Working understanding of HR metrics and reporting to identify trends and support operational planning.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting client groups within a manufacturing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Experience working in international or multi-jurisdictional environments.
  • Experience with UKG or similar HRIS platforms.
  • Experience using data visualization or reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • CPHR designation.
