The Division of Clinical Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a full-time pediatric clinical geneticist to join a dynamic and talented team of three pediatric geneticists, two clinical biochemical geneticists and twelve genetic counselors. The division is supported by outstanding nursing and administrative staff, three metabolic dietitians, research coordinators and a social worker. Providers work closely with the faculty and staff in the Molecular, Cytogenetics, Biochemical Genetics Laboratories, and the Center for Pediatric Genomic Medicine at Children’s Mercy. There are ample opportunities for collaboration with the University of Missouri Kansas City and the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Essential job responsibilities include evaluation and diagnosis of patients with a wide variety of genetic disorders in ambulatory genetics clinics, multidisciplinary clinics, inpatient, and telemedicine consultation service at Children’s Mercy. Teaching and mentoring medical students, residents, and other trainees is essential to this role. In addition, there are opportunities to collaborate with clinical and basic science researchers. The Division of Clinical Genetics is devoted to advancing the career of junior faculty and it is supported by the Office of Faculty Development in the Department of Pediatrics. Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in clinical genetics and genomics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics and licensed or license-eligible to practice medicine in the states of Missouri and Kansas. Board certification in pediatrics is preferred.
