Position Summary
Reporting to the Director, HRS Operations, the Manager, Payroll is responsible for partnering with his/her Payroll Manager colleagues to ensure payroll operations, compliance and projects are executed according to established Service Level Agreements (SLAs). While based in the US, with a focus on US Payroll, the Manager, Payroll will also be responsible to support Canadian payroll, where required. The Manager will ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local (US)/Federal and Provincial (Canada) legislation and regulations that apply to payroll and ensuring compliance with company policies and SOC1 requirements.
Partnering with the respective Brookfield companies’ HR teams, the incumbent ensures the delivery of HRS Payroll Services. The Manager, Payroll is also responsible for working with the Brookfield HRIS team for Workday HRIS payroll tables and codes administration, to create Workday HRIS environment change requests and validate test results when received prior to implementation in production.
Responsibilities
Serve as Payroll subject matter expert within the HR workgroup and in Workday HRIS
Ensure accurate, compliant, and timely processing of payroll, payroll funding, tax filing on a pay period and on-going basis
Create and maintain all process documentation for existing and new processes
Manage payroll projects partnering with the individual payroll analysts, HR, finance and the HRIS teams
Co-ordinate changes of custom reports, journals, new payroll codes as required within Workday HRIS
Conduct various payroll audits to ensure accuracy and quality control; work with auditors as required
Ensure on-going and Year-End reporting is balanced and filed in accordance with legislation and deadlines are met
Ensure the team is consistently delivering products & services up to the expected standards and within SLAs
Prioritize process improvement to continually improve efficiencies and create capacity within the team; review all manual processes to automate or standardize where possible

Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum 10 years of payroll experience (including, but not limited to, processing, taxes, garnishments, compliance & audit)
Minimum 5 years of people management experience (in a Payroll Management capacity)
Payroll Certification
US experience required, Canadian experience an asset
Excellent understanding of payroll and accounting
Working knowledge of HCM and Timekeeping, Workday and Kronos preferred
Strong relationship management skills, with a focus on internal client management
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
