This is a Full Time, No Weekends Leadership position.


POSITION SUMMARY (includes, but is not limited to):


The Patient Safety Director reports to the Vice President of Quality/Risk Management. The primary purpose of this position is manage risk, advance the patient safety program and promotes a culture of safety with the goal of eliminating avoidable harm.


Manages and coordinate an organization-wide risk and patient safety program for Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center. Knows and monitors the areas of organizational risk and compliance as it relates to patient safety. Fosters a culture of safe practices to reduce error and improve patient outcomes. Assesses compliance with national patient safety goals and other patient safety initiatives and implement policies/programs/education to maximize patient safety. Emphasizes proactive harm prevention for patients, visitors, and staff through development and implementation of programs, policies, and activities.


This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center. It is expected that the employee demonstrate behavior consistent with the values of Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center and HCA. The employee shall support the hospital's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the performance improvement and patient safety plans. The employee will also be expected to support all organizational expectations including, but not limited to: Customer Service, Patient's Rights, Confidentiality of Information, Environment of Care, Risk Management and HCA patient safety initiatives.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Healthcare related field required.

Master's Degree preferred.

Licensure:

Other licenses/ certifications required by State


Certifications:

Certification in Patient Safety (CPPS) required;

If not already CPPS, must obtain certification within 12 months of hire.


Experience:

Clinical background preferred

Minimum of three years healthcare experience in a Patient Safety, Risk, and/ or Quality preferred.

Healthcare experience should be recent and within a clinical setting such as Hospital, Ambulatory Surgery Center, etc.
