Primary Responsibilities

The Hawaii/Pacific Transportation Business Group Manager is responsible for the transportation operations, P&L, and growth of HDR's transportation business within Hawaii and the Pacific Area.  Primary duties include:

• Strategic planning and budgeting

• Oversight of technical project delivery

• Profitability

• Quality control

• Staff development and morale

• Marketing support

• Perform other duties as needed

This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to grow the business and diversify the client base.  The Transportation Business Group provides transit, highway/roadway. aviation, ports and harbors, structures, civil, traffic, freight rail, real estate services, communications and public involvement, transportation planning, transit oriented development, environmental, and construction management services to public transportation agencies, federal transportation agencies and private transportation clients.

 

In addition, this leader may also serve as a Project Principal or a Project Manager on projects, be administratively responsible for the group's staff and technical service functions, and leading and coordinating services across service lines with other business groups within the area.  The group manager prepares annual revenue forecasts and budgets, monitors performance of the business group, and sells and wins projects that match the skill sets of the staff.  This leader will also hire, train, develop, mentor and manage technical transportation personnel and project teams.  Experience in the management and development of multi-discipline teams is required.  This position works cooperatively with Local, Regional, and National Directors and coordinates services with other business lines in the company.

 

Position is to be based in Honolulu, Hawaii.  This leader will report directly to the Hawaii/Pacific Area Manager who is responsible for the entire geographic area that includes transportation, water/wastewater, natural resource management, oil & gas, power, environmental and federal market sectors.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering, Planning or related field

• Minimum 15years of experience in transportation engineering or related field

• Strong leadership and project management skills

• Demonstrated P&L responsibility

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Existing network of Hawaii/Pacific transportation clients

• Success in initiating and managing growth

• Proven ability to develop and nurture lasting relationships amongst clients and teaming partners

Preferred Qualifications

State of Hawaii professional engineering registration or ability of obtain within six months of employment

Familiarity with Oracle E-Business Suite software
