Description:
Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, provides functional direction and training to Pharmacist and other Pharmacy personnel. Dispenses, compounds, procures, stores, and distributes pharmacy products. Consults with patients and medical personnel regarding medication therapy. Provides functional direction to staff, prioritizes workflow, removes obstacles to the efficient operation of the pharmacy, analyzes and resolves problems in order to assure high quality service.
Essential Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, provides functional direction and training to Pharmacists and other pharmacy personnel. Dispenses, compounds, procures, stores, and distributes pharmacy products. Assists medical personnel and patient with drug information and identification. May maintain pharmacy change fund, controlled substance inventory, and reconcile time cards.
Performs other duties as required.
This job coaches, problem solves, and provides functional direction to other employees, but does not have the authority to hire, fire or discipline.
Basic Qualifications:
Experience
Minimum one (1) year experience in prescription or institutional practice after completion of Pharmacy school.
Education
B.S. degree in Pharmacy OR Pharm.D required.
License, Certification, Registration
Current registration by the CA State Board of Pharmacy.
Additional Requirements:
Knowledge of Federal and State laws, regulations, and standard regarding the provision of pharmaceutical services.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to extract pertinent information from the patient or other sources and relate it to the patients medical management plan.
Must be able to operate the pharmacy computer system(s) and other equipment.
Must be able to input prescription labels.
MUST BE ABLE TO PASS BACKGROUND CHECK.
Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in a high volume outpatient or HMO pharmacy setting preferred.
