Tilson is looking for motivated, self-directed senior OSP Engineer to join our team to lead the design of outside plant networks, with focus on fiber-based systems. The candidate should have technical experience in outside plant design working collaboratively with other departments to achieve success. Candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of proven experience with OSP underground and aerial telecommunication leading and engineering, with understanding of supporting equipment and network architecture. This job will reside in our Charlotte, North Carolina office.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to OSP Engineer resources
  • Assign work assignments and monitor OSP field team members performance and quality
  • Manage and design hundreds of miles of outside plant for a major network deployment
  • Ability to perform low level fiber engineering using 3-GIS platform
  • Ability to perform field visits and network verifications
  • Experience in high level network design (splice and physical plant), and detailed engineering
  • Work with other departments to ensure make ready management, permitting and fielding meet OSP design criteria
  • Review permit and construction drawings for engineering integrity
  • Be able to review as-built plans and test results
  • Ability to work in AutoCAD and Google Earth
  • Familiarity with GPON engineering
  • Maintain orderly records and project documents
  • Working knowledge of pole line design and fiber construction, both aerial and underground

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; engineering degree preferred
  • Strong understanding of outside plant engineering and construction
  • Knowledge of NESC code, GO95 and JPA as it relates to telecommunications rules and regulations
  • Experience engineering in a 3GIS based program
  • Knowledge of the permitting requirements across local jurisdiction
  • Desktop and field quality control to support final client deliverable
  • Prepare Geo Database documentation packages for client review
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to meet project deadlines
  • Willingness to learn new skills, software, and technologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Valid driver's license

Travel Expectations: Up to 50% travel required
