We are currently seeking an innovative researcher with expertise in plasma processing technology for novel near-eye display technology. The researcher will interface directly with our team of Optical Design staff and Nanofabrication research staff. This is a full-time position requiring a PhD in physics, optics, material science, engineering, or similar. Candidates require expertise in plasmaprocesses including PeCVD, ALD, PVD, etc. andexperience in fabricating novel optical elements ispreferred. Successful candidates must be comfortable working in a dynamic cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the Research Staff tool owner
  • Develop process and materials in support of near-eye optical components
  • Develop operational protocols for efficient execution of experiments and provide guidance to engineering staff
  • Translate Optic Designs requirements into appropriate materials and process parameters
  • Work closely with the research and engineering staff to design and execute design of experiments
  • Work closely with the Optics team to understand design sensitivities and to establish appropriate metrology and characterization strategies
  • Build collaborative relationships both internally and externally to support research initiatives

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree or completing a postdoctoral assignment in the field of Physics, Material Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar
  • Must be available to start employment on or after April 1, 2018
  • 3+ years experience with plasma-based technology techniques including PeCVD, ALD, PVD, etc.
  • 3+ years experience with nanofabrication techniques including deposition, etch, and lithography
  • Interpersonal experience: cross-group and cross-culture collaboration
  • Able to obtain work authorization in the U.S. beginning in 2018

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of plasma physics and chemistry
  • Experience building novel optic element characterization
  • Experience with optical component and structural characterization
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading journals, workshops or conferences such as Applied Optics, Science, Nature, Nature Communications, APL, Nano Letters, ACS Nano, Optics Letters, Optics Express, and relevant SIGGRAPH, SID, OSA, SPIE, EIPBN, or similar
