JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to provide leadership to cross-functional teams in the execution of key projects within Operations.  This position will utilize experience to develop comprehensive project plans, including change management strategies, and lead project teams through execution to deliver critical business improvements.  

Projects may include, but are not limited to, business process improvements, infrastructure updates, manufacturing plant moves, operational improvements and supplier changes.  This leader will work with key stakeholders, including both project team members and functional managers, to ensure projects meet objectives of scope, budget and timeline; and represents the project team to the organization by reporting progress, providing recommendations for issue resolution and soliciting appropriate leadership levels for key decisions.
 
Impact this role will have on Abbott:

  • Provide accountability for project execution of mid to large-scale, organizationally complex, projects
  • May lead a single, larger-scale project, or multiple smaller-scale projects at any given time depending on organizational needs
  • Communicates with all levels of the organization to represent the objectives, risks, and needs for the project to ensure effective steering committee reviews and decision making
  • In partnership with the project champions and fellow core team members, develop comprehensive project plans which identify objectives, strategy, risks/risk mitigation, budget, effort estimates and schedule
  • Apply project management tools and techniques to efficiently guide a cross functional team through project execution while balancing objectives of scope, time and budget
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to resolve conflicting expectations and establish organizational alignment in order to develop clear goals for the project team
  • Maintain relationships with functional team leaders to ensure appropriate team members are assigned based on skills needed to accomplish the project tasks and that resourcing opportunities are addressed effectively
  • Apply appropriate management techniques to monitor performance and coach individuals based on project needs and skill levels of the various project team members
  • Identify opportunities for improving overall project and portfolio management processes
  • Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements
  • Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments
  • Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned

Your Experiences(s), education and knowledge will further expand Abbott’s marketplace success

  • 5+ years of cross-functional Project Managementexperience; PMP certification preferred
  • Experience leading projects in a medical device, biomedical or highly regulated manufacturing environment preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or technical field preferred
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
  •  Strong leadership skills, including the ability to set goals and provide constructive feedback  in order to build positive relationships and improve business results
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced changing  environment
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
  • Multi-tasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner
  • Strong organizational, planning, and follow-up skills with ability to hold others accountable
  • Ability to synthesize complex business and technical aspects of large scale projects while effectively clarifying and facilitating resolution of issues, risks and actions
  • Takes initiative and drives innovation and change
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time, including internationally, as needed
